Disney World Made RAT WAFFLES a Thing, and We Tried Them — You Know, for Science

Some permanent dining locations in EPCOT get special menu items just for the festival. Come with us to the Connections Café and Eatery to check out a NEW dessert and cocktail.

We got the Remy Liege Waffle, which is a Cream Cheese Liege Waffle with Cream Cheese Icing, Graham Cracker Crumbs, and a Remy Chocolate Garnish.

It’s Remy!

We’ve had several different flavors of Liege Waffles at Connections Café, including an Orange Bird-themed one for the Flower & Garden Festival and a Figment waffle for the Festival of the Arts. So how does the new Remy one stack up?

It’s very creamy! The waffle is soft but firm where it needs to be to hold its form. It’s a little messy with the sugar coating and cream cheese icing, and the Remy garnish is also melty in the sun — but that’s to be expected from Florida in the summer! Cream cheese haters need not apply — this isn’t a regular waffle. But, it makes for a great quick breakfast if cream cheese is your jam. It was almost like a waffle and Toaster Strudel had a baby.

You can get one at the Café or Eatery for $4.19.

Or you can try the Black Forest Baumkuchen for $5.99. This is a sweet treat that combines pastry, black cherry, chocolate, and whipped cream.

The presentation on this one is absolutely gorgeous! The dark chocolate pieces are crisp and the whole thing is drizzled in milk chocolate, which cuts through the tartness of the black cherry perfectly.

Yum!

While we loved Baumkuchen before, we think this treat absolutely needs to stay! The additional toppings helped cut through the dryness of the pastry and makes an overall delicious treat.

Drinks

There’s also a festival drink at Connections! It’s the Yucatan Sunset Margarita for $15.50. This drink is Teremana Blanco Tequila, Passion Fruit Syrup, Bol’s Triple Sec 30 proof Liqueur, with Lime and Orange Juices. This one is made with Dwayne Johnson’s tequila — so how does The Rock’s margarita taste?

We think this one has the potential for being dangerous — we didn’t get too strong of a tequila flavor here, instead, the passion fruit syrup was the most prominent. The lime and orange juices help give this a bit of a tart bite which helps cut down on the sweetness of the passion fruit and triple sec. It wasn’t overly sweet compared to other Disney cocktails, but was definitely on the sweeter side. This is also a more substantial cocktail than what you might get at the other festival booths!

Alright, now for the real question — should you make a stop at Connections?

OVERALL

So is it worth visiting Connections Café and Eatery for these festival snacks, or should you stick to the Festival Marketplaces? If you ask us, a Liege Waffle is always worth it — and this one is pretty darn cute with Remy on it. But, you can get a Liege Waffle here year-round, so if it’s the margarita you’re after this spot might be worth the trip!
