Disney World is constantly changing, which is part of why so many of us want to revisit it over and over.
Some changes are great, like the new Shiki-Sai restaurant that just opened in EPCOT. Some changes are controversial, and we know so many of our readers are still frustrated about Genie+. Some changes, though, have been going under the radar, like Disney World was hoping we didn’t notice.
But we did, and we’re listing them here. So let’s take a look together, shall we?
We have to walk FOREVER to get rideshare in EPCOT now
Okay, so we exaggerate, and the walk to the new rideshare pick-up spot in EPCOT isn’t like a mile away, but it sure feels like it at the end of the park day. The rideshare pick-up location is in the further EVE lot now, unless you’re catching a more expensive Minnie van. It used to be at the front of the parking lot, near the park entrance. It’s MUCH further away now.
At the end of the day, this feels like a TREK, especially after walking all over EPCOT, so you might want to make an alternative plan for transportation at this park.

Parking trams…where are they?
Okay, we are still missing parking trams at TWO of the parks. Everything else has returned to normal and when the parks are crowded, we sometimes have to park far away from the entrance. If you’re going to Hollywood Studios or EPCOT, you’re just going to have to make that long walk. These trams have been missing since 2020, so we’re not sure what’s going on.
So we recommend using Disney World’s transportation if you’re planning on visiting those two parks — your feet will thank you, especially at the end of the day.
Alright. These Merciless Disney World Parking Lots Still Don’t Have Trams, But We Have Solutions
Where’s our package delivery?
In the before-time, otherwise known as pre-2020, we could visit Disney theme park shops, buy something, and have it sent directly to our hotel room so we wouldn’t have to carry around our purchases all day long. Well, that’s been gone since 2020, and it hasn’t returned yet.
What’s even more annoying is that the service returned to Disneyland, but not Disney World. What gives?
So if you’re planning on making any big purchases in the parks, we recommend doing it at the end of the day so you don’t have to lug it around everywhere. There are also rental lockers available at each park (for a price), but we miss the days of that convenient FREE package delivery service.

The REST of the EPCOT transformation
Okay, so things are looking good at EPCOT and it’s undergone a HUGE transformation. We got pretty lights on Spaceship Earth, we got a new quick-service restaurant, and a new attraction (with another on the way). But some things that were mentioned for the big transformation have NOT happened and we’re wondering what’s going on with those.
Okay, so we have questions about that Mary Poppins attraction we were promised! Like we wanted to soar over the rooftops of London with Mary or whatever Disney had in mind, but it seems Disney wants us to forget about it. It’s been postponed, but it seems like it’s also been forgotten. Or what about Wondrous China, the movie that was supposed to replace Reflections of China (and we haven’t heard a word about it)?
More importantly, we were promised that Spaceship Earth would FINALLY get an upgrade. Here we were hoping for the history of communication we’re learning about to move PAST the 1980s (because, well, a LOT has happened since then) and take us into the modern age of communication, but nope. Nada. Disney has confirmed that the ride refurbishment was postponed, and it seems it’s been postponed indefinitely.
What’s Going WRONG With the EPCOT Transformation
Some entertainment is still missing
Before 2020, Disney World hosted some world-class Streetmosphere entertainment that we almost never missed. That included the Citizens of Main Street in Magic Kingdom and the Citizens of Hollywood in Hollywood Studios. After Disney World’s historic closure and reopening, those two groups disappeared.
The Citizens of Hollywood DID put in an appearance for a runDisney event, but neither group is actively performing in Disney World right now — and we still miss them a LOT.

Fewer photographers at meet and greet spots
One thing you could almost count on when meeting a character in Disney World is that a PhotoPass photographer would be on hand to capture that special moment for you. Although that is still the case for many character meet and greets in Disney World, there are others that no longer have photographers handy.
PhotoPass photographers are some of the best photographers in the world and are SO good at capturing those magical Disney moments. They’re the reason so many Disney World guests opt to pay extra for Memory Maker so they can download all those great photos. We’re not sure what’s going on with photographers in the park — is it Disney’s decision to have less or is it because of a staffing shortage?

What’s going on with 1900 Park Fare?
We’ve seen the majority of Disney World restaurants reopen over the past few years after the resort’s closure in 2020, but there’s one that’s still closed and we’re starting to doubt we’ll ever see it again. It’s 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, which hosted a character breakfast in the morning with unique characters like Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland. There was also an afternoon tea with characters like Alice and the Mad Hatter.
In the evening, the restaurant hosted a Disney Princess character dinner. However, the restaurant remains closed with no word of when — or if — it will reopen.
When Will 1900 Park Fare Reopen in Disney World? Everything We Know
So we get it, Disney, you might want us to forget about all these things, but we won’t. Some updates would be nice, but we won’t hold our breaths waiting for them either. However, in the meantime, we’re still excited about all the NEW stuff coming to Disney World, so, hey, there’s that.

Last week, we caught an Uber from the Beach Club lobby by leaving Epcot through the International Gateway. Much closer than going back through the park and out the main gate to the farthest reaches of the parking lot (the massive rainstorm made this more important).
