REVIEW: Disney Just Took One of Our Absolute FAVORITE Meals and Made It BETTER! 😍

If you haven’t visited Disneyland Resort in a while, you might not realize just how much AMAZING food you can get there (and yes, it rivals Disney World food, and dare we say, it’s often BETTER😱).

From Disneyland staples like corn dogs, churros, and Mickey beignets to newer foods like breakfast chimichangas and the Garlic Cheesy Pretzel Bread, we just want to spend our days eating our way around the parks. But a new food just arrived in the parks, and we’re just going to tell you right now — this one is quickly moving up to the top of our list.

If you’ve ever visited Disneyland, you’ve probably at least heard of the Monte Cristo sandwich that you can get at Blue Bayou Restaurant and Cafe Orleans. We’re BIG fans of that sandwich. Well, when we learned that Disneyland had created a NEW version of the Monte Cristo with WAFFLES, you know we wanted to try that out. Meet the Waffle Cristo *insert heavenly music here*.

The Waffle Cristo

This is made with Rosemary Ham, Turkey, and Swiss Waffle dusted in Powdered Sugar, served with a side of Strawberry Preserves and Maple Syrup. You can get either a half order for $6.99 or a full order for $10.99. Um…yes, we got the full order, OF COURSE. No skipping out on our old favorite, the Monte Cristo.

So the main focus of this sandwich is the meat — we loved how rich the ham flavor was, with just a hint of rosemary (it’s very subtle). The waffle is PERFECT: crunchy on the outside and then soft in the middle. Also, a warning: The smell of waffles baking in the kitchen will DRIVE YOU CRAZY while you’re waiting for your meal.

Tastes as good as it looks

The syrup adds a nice, sweet maple flavor that works SO well with the ham and turkey, making it both sweet and savory. You also get some strawberry jam with it if you want to sweeten it up even more. We will say we didn’t taste much of the Swiss cheese, though — the other flavors come on a lot stronger. This is one of our favorite Disneyland snacks we’ve had in a LONG time. It’s basically that classic Monte Cristo we already love but inside a waffle. WIN!!!

We WILL be getting this again

Okay, we do have to tell you this. You can ONLY order this sandwich for breakfast (which is a shame), so you’ll want to get to the park EARLY to try it out. But it is a FILLING breakfast, and so worth waking up a little earlier. It’s available now at Royal Street Veranda.
