Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to some great food spots! Today we are checking out one that doesn’t always reach the top of our “must-eat” spots!
This restaurant is known for its classic theme park fare including lots of hamburgers and hot dogs. But we are on a quest to find out if it is more than JUST that typical fare?
Disney’s Animal Kingdom boasts a lot of great food options, including some of our favorite quick-service restaurants like Satu’li Canteen and Flame Tree Barbecue, and table-service restaurants such as Yak and Yeti and the Nomad Lounge. And today we are checking out another quick-service location to see what is has to offer.
We are making a stop at Restaurantosaurus to find out if their menu is more than just the normal theme park fare, and how it stands up when we move away from the hamburgers and hotdogs.
Atmosphere
You can find Restaurantosaurus in Dinoland U.S.A. It is located near Dinosaur and right next to Dino-Bite Snacks. While Restaurantosaurus is a bit hidden, once you find it you will notice it is a huge space!
Restaurantosaurus offers Mobile Order, or you can walk inside and order with a cast member. We always recommend using Mobile Order in the My Disney Experience app, because it makes your life so much easier! Once you walk through the doors, you are greeted with the counter area where you can pick-up your food or order with a cast member.
When you have your food, you can head into the dining area. The dining area has a self-serve drink station, condiments, napkins, and utensils.
You never know when you might find Mickey, so keep your eyes peeled! We spotted a pepper packet Mickey by the condiments.
There are LOTS of seating options in Restaurantosaurus. The restaurant has a huge, indoor dining area which is perfect for those hot Florida summers.
And just when you thought there was no more, they even have additional seating off the main dining area. It wasn’t open when we were at the restaurant, but during peak times you will find even more seating there.
We love the theming inside this restaurant, and the stone-work and wooden walls add really great charm. The story of this restaurant is that Paleontology students turned their home base into a restaurant. It is full of props, equipment, and humor! You can find lots of remnants of the college students and lots of paleontology gear.
There are so many items to look at throughout the restaurant. Also, don’t forget to look up! There is even more up there!
There is also an outside patio area with additional seating and a bathroom located inside the restaurant.
Menu
The menu at Restaurantosaurus features a fairly good variety of food. It has a lot of your normal theme-park fare like hot dogs and hamburgers. It also features some chicken dishes, as well as a salad for a healthier option.
Additionally, the restaurant features a plant-based meal option too!
For the kiddos in your party, there is also a kids’ menu. All of their kids’ meals come with a “So Cool! Dinos” Book, which is a great addition.
They also have a few side options available.
As well as a selection of drinks, and even a few alcoholic drinks.
You can also grab a dessert here to finish off your meal!
Restaurantosaurus also has allergy-friendly menus, but we recommend ordering allergy-friendly foods directly with a cast member to ensure your specific needs are met!
Drinks
Let’s get started with some drinks! Our first drink we got was the Wildberry Lemonade. It is made of Wildberry Monin and Minute Maid® Premium Lemonade and costs $5.99.
This lemonade was tart and not too sweet. The wildberry syrup adds a great berry flavor without a lot of sweetness. If you’re looking for a Kool-Aid level of sweetness, this drink won’t be for you. Since it is not super sweet, kids may not like it, however, it is a good “mocktail” drink.
We also grabbed the Golden Margarita which is Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila, Grand Mariner Liqueur, Sweet-and-Sour, and Lime Juice and cost us $15.00. The margarita was very lime-forward and that was about all you could taste. It had a good amount of tartness without being “puckering” tart. The tequila and Grand Mariner Liqueur were hard to taste in this drin,k though. This was a solid quick service margarita, but it was nothing special or a drink you will remember for a long time.
Eats
Now that we have quenched our thirst, let’s move on to the eats! We started off with a side of Chili-Cheese Fries which, as the name implies, are crispy fries topped with chili and cheddar sauce. This side of fries costs $6.49.
We already fell in love when we saw that these fries have Disney’s plastic cheese on them! The chili was also really tasty, though. It had a lot of flavor and even a slight kick to it. The chili had lots of meat in it and paired really nicely with the cheese sauce. Overall, these fries are a decent-sized snack option, and it is hard to go wrong with the combination of chili and cheese.
Next up, we tried the Chicken Breast Nuggets (8 piece) with French fries (you can also choose a Cutie mandarin instead). These nuggets cost $10.99.
We would say these are your classic chicken nugget. We were impressed with how much we got for the price and there is a decent amount of meat inside each one! These have a thicker breading that was crunchy. The breading definitely wasn’t bland, but we also wouldn’t say there is anything special about it. We think this dish is a really good value, and could even be split if you aren’t too hungry.
Next, we tried the Fried Chicken Sandwich. This sandwich is a crispy fried chicken breast on a warm brioche bun finished with pickles, lettuce, tomato, and roasted garlic aïoli served with French fries. It costs $11.79.
First off, the roasted garlic aïoli was really good! It had lots of garlic flavor and was super creamy. It was the star of this dish! You get a decent sized piece of chicken that had a crispy breading. The portions of lettuce, tomato, and pickle were decent as well. One of the biggest disappointments in this dish was that the bun was stale. We had high hopes for a brioche bun, but it really let us down. Otherwise, the chicken was juicy, and the elements worked really well together. We just wish the bun was better!
Finally, we also picked up a healthier option: the Cobb Salad. The cobb salad costs $9.79 contains fresh greens, cucumbers, tomato, hard-boiled egg, bacon, blue cheese, and Green Goddess dressing. You can also get this Cobb Salad with chicken for $11.99.
The dressing on this salad is AMAZING! It is herby, creamy, and has lots of flavor. Some of our lettuce was a bit wilted, but most of it was crunchy and tasted fresh. This was a little light on the additional veggies (we only got four tomatoes and three small slices of cucumber). However, there was a good amount of hard-boiled egg and bacon. We thought the flavors all worked really well together, and the dressing really brought it all together. It was a great size, and it could definitely be a full meal, especially if you opted for the Cobb Salad with Chicken.
While we didn’t grab dessert this time, Restaurantosaurus currently offers two delicious desserts you can pick up! There is the Everest Cupcake for $6.29 which is a matcha cake with milk chocolate mousse filling, chocolate buttercream, crispy pearls, and a white chocolate Yeti image. We just wrote an article just about this treat that you can read here!
Or you can also grab the S’moreosaurus Shake for $8.49. This is a vanilla shake with chocolate and caramel drizzle, topped with a chocolate-dipped s’more, toasted marshmallows, and graham cracker crumbs. We have a review of this shake right here!
Overall
So, is Restaurantosaurus more than just hamburgers and hot dogs? While we are happy to report that this restaurant offers more than hamburgers and hotdogs, but it is a simple menu that is not really going to blow your mind. We love that there is a lot of variety, and almost anyone would be able to find something to eat here. The food was all tasty and we left feeling satisfied, however, there wasn’t anything special about the food itself.
While the menu is fairly simple, the theming inside the restaurant is wonderful and this location boasts lots of great air-conditioned seating! The food has a comfort food feel, and sometimes that is exactly what we want!
Nosh or Not?
You should stop by Restaurantosaurus if…
- You have picky eaters. The menu has lots of classic comfort food and is a great option for picky eaters! The food doesn’t have crazy spices or odd ingredients.
- You are looking for classic theme-park fare. You can get all your classics here: hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken nuggets.
- You want a comfortable, air-conditioned place to enjoy your food. Restaurantosaurus has lots of fantastic, indoor seating with a good helping of air-conditioning! This is the perfect place to grab a bit and have a much needed rest.
- You are a fan of restaurants with fun theming. You could spend a lot of time enjoying the details in this restaurant! It has its own backstory and lots of artifacts to explore. The theming is wonderful and even better if someone in your party is a dino fan!
- You are looking for a menu with good variety. While the menu doesn’t stray far from normal fast-food, it does offer a great variety! You can get hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, salads and more here.
You might want to dine somewhere else if….
- You want unique food options you can’t get anywhere else. While the food is tasty, there are much more unique options available in Animal Kingdom. This restaurant has lots of classic “fast food” and very few options that you wouldn’t be able to find somewhere else. We highly recommend Satu’li Canteen for unique food options!
- You don’t eat meat. A large majority of the menu has meat on it. Restaurantosaurus does offer one plant-based option, but if you are looking for more veggie focused meals, you won’t be able to find that here. Yak and Yeti offers a lot of great veggie-forward dishes!
- You want more healthy options to choose from. We really enjoyed the Cobb Salad here, and you can sub your French fries for a mandarin orange, but there aren’t many other healthy options here. We would recommend Satu’li Canteen, Yak and Yeti or Tiffins for menus with less fried foods!
- You want to enjoy good views while eating! While there is lots of seating available, none of the seating options have a good view. The best you are going to get is overlooking the entrance to Dinosaur. If you are looking to enjoy your food with a view (and don’t mind sitting outside), we recommend checking out Flame Tree Barbecue, where you can overlook Discovery River and Expedition Everest!

This post contained so much good informataion on places to eat and what foods they served and some looked so good so will try them. Appreciate posts such as this one on places and things in Disnehyland that guide the untraveled to places inside the park, etc.

The coolest thing about this restaurant is The building, a mashup of a National Park Lodge, a Ranger outpost, A garage in a Quonset hut and an Airstream trailer turned diner. All tied together with a fantastic backstory presented in letters, signs, memos, graffiti and memorabilia throughout the facility. Some of the finest props and art on display anywhere in Disney, including fossil replicas, rare (and expensive) hand-screened band posters, imagineering art (like the greasy handprints in the Quonset illustrating Dinos) and a boatload of “O’Saurus” visual jokes. Look for the Joe Rodhe signed illustrations on the wall by the exit in the main dining room.
This is all Disney at it’s very best: imagining a world, populating it with a backstory and making it real. So much lost when it all gets bulldozed for another infusion of IP saturated marketing vehicle.
