Have you ever walked by Tomorrowland Terrace and wondered what is going on? It has LOTS of seating, wonderful shade, and a fantastic view of Cinderella’s castle.
Yet, for the majority of the day, it sits completely empty. Should we be worried about you, Tomorrowland Terrace?
If you don’t already know, Tomorrowland Terrace is located in Tomorrowland inside of Magic Kingdom. It is a seasonal quick-service restaurant that also hosts Fireworks Dessert parties in the evenings. It overlooks Cinderella Castle and boasts a large dining room filled with loads of bright orange chairs.
The Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties are still happening, but the quick service portion hasn’t been operating for a while. The dessert parties are a great way to get a great view of the fireworks while snacking on some delicious desserts. They require a special ticket, and you can find more information about these parties right here.
However, what about that whole seasonal quick service restaurant thing? I guess by seasonal, Disney World means VERY seasonal. In fact, it has been YEARS since we have seen Tomorrowland Terrace open and operating as a quick service restaurant. We last ate at Tomorrowland Terrace toward the end of 2020 when it reopened after the pandemic and was serving food from Columbia Harbour House. Yeah, that was a long time ago. Columbia Harbour House has since reopened and serves its own food once again, but Tomorrowland Terrace is still just rocking the evening shift.Â
Prior to serving Columbia Harbour House food in 2020, Tomorrowland Terrace offered a menu of classic theme park fare like burgers, chicken strips, and salads. The food was never incredible, but it was another option when it was open. It was only open during peak times like holidays and Spring Break, but we saw it open way more often than we do now.
While you currently can’t get food from Tomorrowland Terrace during the day, we have found that it has started to become utilized for something else. We have been noticing more and more people hanging out here. People have simply been relaxing, but we have also seen quite a few people working here, as well. Working with a view of Cinderella Castle sounds pretty great, doesn’t it? There is lots of seating, and it is usually fairly quiet in here. People will often seek shelter in here when it rains, but other than that, there aren’t usually many people in here.
You can also bring your food over from nearby restaurants. We like to do this trick especially when we order from Casey’s Corner or Sleepy Hollow, which both have very limited seating. No more hovering over tables until someone leaves! You can grab your food from these restaurants and carry it over to Tomorrowland Terrace to enjoy. (Although do note that you will only be able to do this during the day, as Tomorrowland Terrace closes down to host the Fireworks Dessert Parties in the evenings.) You can also utilize Tomorrowland Terrace as a great nap space for your kiddos in strollers (or for yourself), or just head here to get out of the crowds and enjoy some relaxation.Â
So, while we wait to see if Disney World ever opens Tomorrowland Terrace again during the day, or finds a new use for the space, we are enjoying this multi-functional office/dining room/rain shelter/nap room. And if you are in the area and are looking for a bite to eat, you still have plenty of options. You can grab some hot dogs or corn dog nuggets from Casey’s Corner. You can find a restaurant with lots of seating and classic theme park fare like burgers and chicken tenders at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Or if you are hoping to dine on seafood and New England fare, you can head over to Columbia Harbour House. You can also grab fajitas, rice bowls, and tacos from Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe.Â

The dessert and fireworks party is amazing. Well, the desserts are just OK, but you can’t beat the view!
