Spring Break was in FULL swing in Disney World.
The parks were pretty crowded, Genie+ was getting up there in price (and even sold out recently), and wait times were SUPER high. Well, we’re going to give you an idea of just how busy things truly were: Magic Kingdom officially hit capacity for the day.
This doesn’t happen often, but on this day it did. If you tried to park hop to Magic Kingdom, you weren’t be able to. We even got a notification in the My Disney Experience app to inform us of this with a number to call to check on Magic Kingdom’s status: 407-560-5000.
However, if you had a park pass reservation (which is only required for some visitors) for Magic Kingdom, you were still able to get in.
We shouldn’t be too surprised. We were at Magic Kingdom the morning that this happened and just trying to get to the parking lot at the Ticket and Transportation Center was a lesson in patience. Traffic was pretty backed up, and we think this might be one of the longest times we’ve ever had to wait to park.
Inside, we saw some pretty long lines. The Lightning Lane — the LIGHTNING LANE — for Haunted Mansion extended beyond Memento Mori. The standby line is currently at 90 minutes…and rising. Ouch.
We also noticed really high wait times for other rides, too. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad had a wait time of 110 minutes by midday, “it’s a small world” had a wait of 75 minutes, Jungle Cruise had a wait of 95 minutes, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was at 125 minutes (and the Individual Lightning Lane option was sold out). But what shocked us the most was the 60-minute wait for mad Tea Party! WHAT?
Do my eyes DECEIVE ME, or does that really say a 60-minute wait for the TEA CUPS in Magic Kingdom? 🧐🫠 pic.twitter.com/oNm4JAHLrM

This is why we tend to tell folks to avoid Disney World if they can this time of year. Otherwise, you’ll just need to pack your patience and be willing to be very flexible with your plans. It’s also a good idea if you have a trip coming up soon, you’ll want to go to Magic Kingdom FIRST thing in the day, just in case it hits capacity. You can always park hop somewhere else later if you have the park hopper ticket option.

I wonder if you would have been let in if you’d had a meal reservation at the park?
