Disney’s most recent quarterly earnings report yielded some interesting statistics, such as exactly how much Hurricane Ian cost the company and how the recent revenue totals compare to years previous. Although many of the things we learned were about Disney’s past fourth quarter in 2022, we also learned about some potential future directions for The Walt Disney Company.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek and CFO Christine McCarthy participated in a question-and-answer session during the earnings call. During that session, they were asked about the potential impacts of a recession on the Disney company. The Walt Disney Company reported to its investors today about its latest earnings, as well as earnings for the past year.
The numbers reported today confirmed the explosion of growth in Disney’s Parks revenue this year, and the continuing challenges the company is having in making its streaming service — Disney+ — profitable.
Disney+ has only been around for about 3 years now, but it’s made a pretty big impact in that short amount of time.
In fact, the streaming service is even trying to catch up with Netflix. The popularity isn’t surprising, since Disney+ is home to some of the most successful studios and franchises of all time, like Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. We like to keep up with the number of subscribers for Disney+ so we can see how things are changing, and we have some new numbers for you!
