Spirit Airlines completely shutting down was not on our bingo cards for 2026, but alas, here we are, and we’ve been here for about a month now.
The lack of flights has certainly been affecting travelers all over the United States, but the good news? Other airlines are stepping in to fill in the gaps, slowly but surely. If you’re someone who often flies in and out of Tampa International Airport and have been missing some of those Spirit flights, you’re in for some great news — by July, Spirit’s original routes will have all been taken up by other airlines!
Spirit Airlines was a popular budget airline for getting to and from Orlando, but it abruptly closed on May 2nd, leaving nearly 1,000 flights from Orlando Airport canceled.
Hundreds of thousands of budget flyers relied on Spirit for their Disney World vacations and general travel. A campaign has even been created to revive Spirit Airlines! But just in case the beloved yellow Airbus is gone for good, here are four great alternatives for your next Orlando trip.
A popular Florida airport just made history! Breeze Airways just added a nonstop flight between Tampa International Airport and San Jose, Costa Rica. This is the first flight connecting from Tampa to Costa Rica in over 25 years.
Breeze will soon be the only route offering direct flights from Tampa to San Jose. Service to San Jose begins on October 3rd with routes on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Last night, at about 10 p.m. Eastern, I got the message no traveler wants to see: My flight was canceled. I was supposed to fly from Evansville, Indiana (EVV) to Orlando (MCO) tonight on Breeze Airways — a trip I’ve made dozens of times. But with the FAA ordering mass flight cancelations across the country due to staffing issues and ripple effects from the government shutdown, my plans changed fast.
According to reports from NBC News, the FAA has grounded or delayed thousands of flights nationwide as they scramble to manage critical air traffic control shortages. Some airports have seen cancellations rise by more than 40% compared to an average Friday, and with Thanksgiving just around the corner — traditionally one of the busiest travel periods of the year — this is starting to look like a major travel crisis in the making.
Getting to Disney World just got easier! Breeze Airways just announced TWO new nonstop routes to the Orlando International Airport (MCO).
There are a lot of considerations when it comes to planning your Disney World vacation, and a big one is how exactly you are going to get there! Many families choose to fly to one of the nearby airports, and Breeze just announced two new routes to MCO.
Have you booked your air travel for your upcoming trip to Disney World?
Spring break is right around the corner, and if you have not booked your flights yet, listen up! It is no secret that airfare can be pricey around popular travel times (such as spring break). Breeze Airways is currently running a promotion to help keep money in your pockets! But hurry—this deal ends TODAY!
Travel warnings, inflated prices, and massive flight delays are all happening now. That can only mean one thing: it’s spring break season. You’ve probably heard the warnings. You may have even seen the viral Miami Beach tweet about $100 parking and strict law enforcement presence during spring break. It’s a busy time of year!

Orlando International Airport
Ever heard the expression, “Do as we say, not as we do.” Well, we’re gonna admit it. We traveled through Orlando Airport during the spring break chaos. Yes, we knew what we were getting into. Yes, we heard the warnings. But still, the Orlando Airport — and our AIRLINE — shared some clear messages about what we should expect.
As huge Disney fans, we are always visiting the parks.

Sleeping Beauty Castle
If we had it our way, we’d plan back-to-back Disney World and Disneyland trips. But… let’s face it. Flights between Florida and California are long and expensive. That is… until now! We found what we think could be a GREAT flight deal from Orlando to Anaheim!
When it comes to budget-friendly airlines, Breeze Airways is at the top of the list for a lot of folks.
Although the airline has been making flights to and from Florida for nearly two years now, Breeze is expanding its operations to Florida in a BIG way. If you visit Disney World often and are always on the hunt for low airfare from a reliable airline, you’re gonna want to listen up.
