Disney World has been open for a few months and we’ve seen the health and safety measures change and evolve.

Now, the Florida Orange County government is turning attention to the theme parks to ensure that they are following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. The county-wide effort to ensure health and safety will send strike teams in to make sure that things are going well.
Though Disney’s theme parks in Florida have officially been reopened for a few months, other Disney operations out of the Sunshine State, namely Disney Cruise Line, haven’t operated since March.

And because of the coronavirus pandemic, Disney Cruise Line has suspended all of its sailings through mid-December.
Last month the Center for Disease Control and Prevention made a controversial change to its testing guidelines for the global health crisis.

Initially, testing was recommended for anyone who had come in contact with someone with confirmed COVID-19. The change removed this recommendation and noted that those without symptoms didn’t need to get tested, which sparked some controversy — including remarks from Disney Chairman Bob Iger.
Along with Disney’s theme parks, the Disney Cruise Line has been experiencing major delays due to the global health crisis.

We predicted the CDC’s “No Sail Order” would affect Disney Cruise Line departures. Disney has now made an official announcement regarding Disney cruise vacations.
Back in June, Disney Cruise Line extended the suspension of its U.S. departures for Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy through mid-September. Now it’s starting to look likely sailings could be postponed again.

Today, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have just extended their “No Sail Order” through the end of September which means U.S. cruise lines will not be able to disembark from U.S. ports until October at the earliest.
The unprecedented closure of Disney World has continued for more than two months now and we are missing the parks.

Disney has never had to contend with a global crisis such as this one. In the past, closures have been extremely limited and the largest singular change to daily operations came in the wake of the 9/11 attacks with added security measures. Now, we’re looking at a Disney World that could be VERY different when we return. So, when will Disney World be normal again?

Disney is no longer requiring face masks for guests in Disney World in most locations. The only place guests might need to wear masks is in certain areas of first aid centers. Disney does note, however, that “It is recommended Guests who are not fully vaccinated continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters and on enclosed transportation.” If you’ll be bringing a mask to Disney World, let’s make sure you get comfortable masks that you’re happy with to take to the parks!

Universal Orlando’s CityWalk reopened today with new procedures, and Disney Springs plans to reopen next week. Today, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) released a new set of guidelines to help businesses decide whether they are ready to proceed with reopening or not.
The outbreak of the Coronavirus has forced Disney to massively change their plans for the next few months in the interest of health and safety. Disney World has been closed, which also means a ton of Disney events and even the Disney College Program have been suspended temporarily as well.
