We’ve been seeing updates on construction almost daily and we recently even saw the entrance sign installed. Today we got even BIGGER news if you can believe it!

Not only will guests be able to ride TRON Lightcycle / Run after it opens on April 4th, but we also just learned it will be available via virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lane. Plus, we’ve also got new details and a sneak peek of the on-ride photo for TRON Lightcycle / Run, too!

After years — and we mean actual YEARS — of waiting, TRON Lightcycle / Run is finally opening in Disney World! The new coaster will open to guests on April 4th, 2023, and we’ve been keeping up with the latest progress and details. Now, we have more information on the virtual queue TRON Lightcycle / Run!
We recently said goodbye to Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom, as the ride closed to make way for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The new Princess and the Frog version of the attraction will open in 2024, so until then, we’ll be sharing construction updates to show the progress of the project. And here we are with news already about what’s taken place.
In case you haven’t heard, the classic Disney World attraction, Splash Mountain, recently closed on January 22nd, 2023.
One final ride
Fans and Cast Members alike were there to bid the ride adieu, buy the last souvenirs, and wait in long, long lines for one last splash down the mountain. But, it looks like some fans took their devotion to the next level and appeared to have saved some of the water from the ride’s final day — and now you can BUY it online (because of course you can!).
Here at DFB, we love keeping up with the progress of new attractions at Disney World. It’s so exciting to watch the magic slowly come to life!
Tron Lightcycle/Run Construction
Out of all the new attractions and restaurants coming soon to Disney World, TRON Lightcycle/Run is among the most highly anticipated. After all, it’s a high-speed coaster with unique ride vehicles, cool lighting effects, and a thrilling storyline. Now, there’s an exciting update at this ride’s construction site!

It may be a WHILE before we see the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney World (won’t open until late 2024!), but Disney is not wasting any time when it comes to this major transformation.
Construction Walls Are UP
Splash Mountain’s last day of operation was January 22nd, 2023. The ride is now officially CLOSED as it gets overhauled into a Princess and the Frog-themed ride. And Disney has moved swiftly to remove mentions of the ride in other attractions and change other things in the park. Let’s go through it all here!
Yesterday was a busy day in Magic Kingdom — it was the last day to ride Splash Mountain before it closed for retheming as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The closure is planned to last almost two years. But Disney is wasting no time! While Tiana’s Bayou Adventure isn’t scheduled to open until at least late 2024, that hasn’t stopped Disney from preparing for construction already.
