Well, almost anyway! The Walt Disney World Railroad is reopening SOON in Magic Kingdom, and we recently learned a few details about what changes we can expect to see and saw a few sneak peek photos. But now, Disney has shared the first look at the Walt Disney World Railroad in Magic Kingdom!
The Walt Disney World Railroad closed in Magic Kingdom in 2018 (can you believe it’s been that long?!) due to the construction of TRON Lightcycle Run, and we’ve really missed it over the past few years!
Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for a LONG time!
Although we’ve seen railroad testing and updates on the changes that have been made to the beloved train, Disney had not revealed a reopening timeline for this classic attraction…until NOW.

Disney has announced a critical change to 1-day, 1-park tickets, upcoming price changes for Park Hopping, a Park Pass change, and Annual Pass price increases, but that’s not all! When it comes to Magic Kingdom specifically, we’ve got an update on the Walt Disney World Railroad!

And, even though the train will no longer be making a stop at Disney World, it’ll still get you pretty close — not to mention it will be near Universal Orlando’s new Epic Universe park as well. Although we still don’t know when exactly theme park-goers and travelers alike will be able to hop aboard — it looks like we’re getting closer to the Brightline train opening!
We have been on quite the journey following along with the progress of the Brightline train to Disney World.

Previously, the high-speed train was supposed to run from the Orlando International Airport to a station right at Disney Springs. But, plans for that were scrapped when Disney backed out of its deal for that Disney Springs train station. However, there’s been a new update on the progress of the train today!
The Walt Disney World Railroad has quite literally been closed for YEARS.

The train used to travel in a circle around Magic Kingdom, but was temporarily put out of commission when Disney started building TRON. We still have no update from Disney on when the train might be back, but we’re seeing some encouraging signs in the park!
The train that will eventually take guests from Orlando International Airport to Disney World just took a HUGE step forward.

For months, we’ve been covering everything related to this train — from its potential cost to considerations about how Disney World will get guests to their hotels once the train is operational. Most recently, after many discussions, a potential route had been proposed for the train to take from the airport to Disney World (a topic that had been heavily debated) and now plans for the train has taken another HUGE step forward.
It’ll still be QUITE some time before anyone hops on a Brightline train to go from Orlando International Airport to Disney World, but some progress on this future transportation method is being made.

Last year, things came to a stop and decisions regarding the train’s route from the airport to Disney World were indefinitely delayed. But things have started to move forward and a special plan has been proposed that would include a shared space between Brightline and SunRail. Now, things look like they’re continuing to move forward.

Well, while some of the plans for this train had hit a BIG stumbling block when it comes to train routes, it looks like things might be CHANGING!
Did you know that in the future, you will be able to take a train to Disney World from the airport instead of grabbing an Uber or hopping on Disney’s Magical Express replacement?
No, not THIS kind of train (but that would be super fun!).
That’s right — Brightline is planning to connect from the Orlando International Airport to Disney World. But, right now, the Brightline train only runs from Miami to West Palm Beach, so it is also currently expanding up to Orlando. And now, this route has hit another major milestone in its construction!
