We found another awesome new cupcake to share with you! (Well, we found three awesome new cupcakes to share with you, but we’ll focus on this one for today…)
Sunshine Seasons in the Land pavilion of Epcot’s Future World is a quick-service restaurant with ample seating and a large, varied menu. It’s a favorite of DFB readers (and me!), and often wins the top spot when it comes to beloved counter-service restaurants!
It deserves this honor, too! There are plenty of options on the menu, including fresh and unique items. Choose from one of five varied menus!
On my visit last week, though, I headed straight for the Bakery area! I’d heard from a few DFB readers about the new Guava Cream Cheese Cupcake, and I knew I had to try it!
When I got to the bakery case, this lovely item was staring (literally — kind of looks like an eye, doesn’t it?) back at me!
The cupcake is only available here at Sunshine Seasons — a unique addition to this fun location’s menu!
The cake is moist vanilla — very rich for a vanilla cake, in fact. On top is a mound of light cream cheese frosting (when I say “light,” I don’t mean low-calorie — it just had a more whipped and texturally light appearance and feel to it) punctuated with a center of guava jam.
The frosting, though lighter than I usually like it, was very good. A nice, sweet cream cheese taste (you won’t mistake this for vanilla frosting), providing a good balance for the sweet vanilla cake and the tangy guava jam.
I’m calling the guava center a “jam” because it has the consistency of preserves. It’s very much a strong guava flavor — very tangy — so I liked it much better when I combined the bite with cake and frosting versus just eating the guava jam straight up.
Overall, this was a very good cupcake! It doesn’t rank up there with my Butterfinger Cupcake or my Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake, but it was a unique and interesting set of flavors that I will definitely be back to have again!!

This looks like a really creative item. Love Sunshine Seasons. My only negative: I wish it was actually a guava cream cheese cupcake (like, the frosting or cake was guava flavored), and not a vanilla cream cheese cupcake (with guava). Oh well, it’s a start!
And if anyone out there hasn’t tried guava nector (juice) you must!

Sunshine seasons is such a great place and we usually eat there for breakfast while at Epcot. My husband always asks me why of the resorts don’t have food courts like this place! I am thinking I might pick up this cupcake on the way out and take it back to the resort on our next trip! My husband and I really like flavors like guava and mango etc and I prefer a lighter type cream over a super sweet frosting so this cupcake sounds like it would be perfect for us to share!

I agree with John. I was hoping for more than just a vanilla cupcake. -Sigh- I still ate it all.

This looks awesome! can you tell me what is around the edge of the frosting? is that crunchies or nuts? we have a nut allergy but a love of cupcakes! thanks!

John B and Christina — Honestly, if you were to do a little smooshing with the frosting and the guava jam, you’d have a strongly guava flavored frosting! 😉 I guess sometimes you have to DIY at Disney! There was a guava-frostinged cupcake at Disneyland this summer; I still need to do my post about it!
Marci — I think you guys will really enjoy it! Disney’s definitely “outside the box” with this treat.
Diana — Great! Looking forward to your review.
Jill — It seemed like crunchies, but it could definitely have been a crunchies/nuts combo! Definitely ask a cast member before purchasing.
