Hooray for Hollywood — and for today’s What’s New from Disney’s Hollywood Studios! We’ve got a small update from the park — but we’re starting with some big news!
What’s New at Hollywood Studios’ Entrance
The construction that’s been filling the Park’s entrance area is complete, and a brand new tram drop off and loading zone has been unveiled. But that’s not all! A new, larger bag check area is now open, too, and there’s plenty of space for those impending Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge crowds come late-August!
What’s New in Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land
Toy Story Land has two new-to-us souvenir machines — one for ID Tags and one for Pressed Pennies.
ID Tags feature all of our Toy Story favorites!
Guests can personalize these tags and purchase them for $12.00 – $13.00.
The Pressed Pennies machine features four designs and — get this! — the machine supplies the pennies. 😉 Cost for one penny is a dollar, and the machine accepts a credit card if you want to use it to pay $4 for all four pennies.
What’s New at Hollywood Studios’ Commissary Lane
has made a big change to its appetizer menu. Gone are the Onion Rings, and new are Crabless Cakes! The new cakes come with Veggie Slaw and Vegan Rémoulade for vegetarian- and vegan-friendly dining!
But we’ll miss this rocket ship of Onion Rings…
What’s New in Hollywood Studios’ Echo Lake
We popped in to check on the menu at Backlot Express. There’s been only one major change to the menu…
The BB-8 Sipper is no longer available! Backlot Express was the last place we saw them available, so we’ll keep watch to see if BB-8 jets into another location in the future.
What’s New in Hollywood Studios’ Merchandise
Mickey’s of Hollywood
has closed for a refurbishment. Shoppers are being directed to Celebrity 5 & 10 and Once Upon a Time.
Keystone Clothiers is also still closed.
As is Legends of Hollywood.
Celebrity 5 & 10 has a bunch of tee shirts on display where mugs and dishware used to be.
You can also find socks, sandals, Crocs, and more on display here, too.
The “Disney Forever” collection we told you about recently is also available at 5 & 10. See more about this fun apparel line here!
We found new-to-us Rainbow Unicorn merch at Beverly Sunset Boutique.
We shared this Rainbow Unicorn Keychain in our last What’s New from Disneyland, and now it’s in the World, too!
There’s plenty of Toy Story 4 merchandise at Beverly Sunset Boutique, too!
Just when we thought we couldn’t get sucked into another spirit jersey, Disney World got Toy Story-inspired ones! See more details of the (totally awesome we-must-have-them) Buzz and Woody spirit jerseys here!
We’re ending on that note because how could we top it, right? 😉 Thanks for playing in the toy box at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with us! And stay tuned for even more What’s New coming up soon!

I was reviewing my plans for the September trip my wife and I have planned, and I noticed that there is a seeming abundance of Extra Magic Hours on the parks’ calendars that were not previously there. In fact, there are extra magic hours during the same time frame for multiple parks. For example, on Sept. 15 there are morning EMH at MK, HS, and AK. It is like that on multiple days during our stay. Since the standard guidance has been to avoid the EMH parks as a way to avoid crowds after the extra hours are over, does this mean that Disney is attempting the draw crowds away from Galaxy’s Edge by offering more hours at the other parks? What does this mean for the overall crowd levels in the other parks? BTW, Hollywood Studios has AM EMH from 6-9 everyday
Wait! Hold on! So the pressed pennies went from ¢.50 to $1.00?
What if I bring my own penny?
Will it still be $1.00?
Brandon, I’m checking on this for you!
