Welcome back, DFB friends! We’re here with another What’s New at Animal Kingdom!
And, we’ve got lots of food, entertainment, merchandise, and construction updates to share with you! So, let’s dive right on in!
Animal Kingdom Food Updates
Cue the “Circle of Life” ’cause the new Simba Popcorn Bucket makes us want to sing as loudly as possible!! (We can’t resist that sweet li’l face!)
While he was originally in Hong Kong Disneyland, now you can spot him at The Feeding Ground, Mahindi, and Corn-Ivores for $16.99.
Check out everything you need to know about the Simba Popcorn Bucket here!
The Lion Paw Cookie is an Animal Kingdom staple (and a pretty delicious one at that). And, just in time for Valentine’s Day, the iconic cookie has gotten a red and pink makeover! Um, we have MAJOR heart eyes for it. Pick one up today for $3.50 or 1 Disney Dining Plan snack cred!
Check out all the sweet deets on the Valentine’s Day Lion Paw Cookie here!
Africa
If that paw-sitively adorable cookie made you hungry, you can make your way over to the Harambe Fruit Market for some of the breakfast items they’ve recently been offering! We’ve got our eye on that Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit. 😉
While we were passing by the Harambe Market with our morning sammie, we noticed the CUTEST illustration on the utensils dispensers! While they might not be new, we think the doodles are a great way to promote eco-friendly compost in a fun way!
Animal Kingdom Entertainment Updates
Discovery Island
We’re trashin’ the camp AND heading over to meet Terk (our best pal)! The feisty gorilla was meeting guests outside of Creature Comforts when we were there, which is the same spot where Flik and Timon have previously been seen.
Animal Kingdom Construction Updates
Asia
It’s that time of the year where Kali River Rapids is undergoing its routine winter maintenance (even though we really miss it).
While the attraction is set to be closed from January 6th through March 21st for a refurbishment…
…guests can still walk up to the animal viewing area near the attraction.
Who do you think will be out to say hello to us today??
DinoLand, U.S.A.
While we only hopped on Primeval Whirl at the beginning of the month, we’re going to have to a wait bit longer to ride the crazy time-traveling coaster again. Since the attraction is seasonal, Primeval Whirl is currently closed until its next dino-mite re-opening.
Animal Kingdom Merchandise Updates

We’ve got an entire closet of Disney merchandise, but we LOVE adding a new tee or two to our collection! And, the Parks Characters Shirt has our favorite pals and parks for $24.99.

…and the Retro 70s Jacket for $64.99.

…with the Retro 70s Pin hooked on it for $17.99!
Oh, and don’t forget to put on your Retro 70s Crocs for $49.99. You’ll need some comfy shoes to trek across Animal Kingdom and dance the night away!
Take a look at the Platform Crocks here!
We’ll be taking ALL our coffee to work in these adorable Mickey and Minnie Ceramic Tumblers from now on! We spotted them at the Riverside Depot for $19.99 each!
Here’s the Mickey Ceramic Tumbler waving at us! What a swell way to get our caffeine fix!
And while the body of the tumbler is made of ceramic, it also comes with a plastic sippy lid which will keep our beverage nice and toasty!
The Minnie Ceramic Tumbler is equally adorbs! We’re sensing a real HIS and HERS situation is brewing here!

Essie says
I love animals so animal kingdom and welfare is a favorite of mine. I always wanted to try the behind the scenes Wild Animal Jungle Trek Adventure, but my disability makes it impossible, unless Disney found a way for people on wheels to do that experience.
