Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance are both finally open in Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge.
But, the Star Wars grind doesn’t stop, my friends! With the attractions up and running, the new Star Wars hotel is getting some extra TLC with its construction progress. And, today, we’re giving you a sneak peek and telling you everything you need to know about the latest intergalactic destination resort!!
Back at the D23 Expo in 2019, it was announced that the Star Wars hotel would be aptly named the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (we’ve got our lightsabers ready to go). When the resort opens in 2021 for Disney World’s 50th anniversary, guests will be able to take a 2-night journey through their own Star Wars story on the Halcyon.
The experience on the Starcruiser (since it’s not really a “hotel” at all — here’s why) will allow guests to stay in their own “well-appointed cabins, experience onboard dining, make a planet-side excursion to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, and more.”
Um, yeah… It sounds pretty awesome, right?? And, although we have to wait another year to either join the Rebels or the First Order to complete our missions on the Galactic Starcruiser, the construction on the resort is definitely in full swing in Disney World! And you can easily see it as you’re driving by!
When you first enter the hotel, you’ll check-in at the Galactic Starcruiser Terminal…
…which will place you into a Launch Pod that will transport you into space to the Halcyon.
During your stay aboard the spaceship, you’ll have the opportunities to train with a lightsaber, interact with your favorite characters, operate the ship’s defense systems, check out a view of space from your cabin, and even dine at places like the Silver C Lounge! [EDITOR’S UPDATE 5/4/21: Please note that a name change has been announced since this post was originally published, and the Silver C Lounge is now called The Sublight Lounge.]
But the feel of this resort will be a lot more…enclosed…than most. Think v. interactive, boutique experience here — like a murder mystery party on a galactic, Star Wars scale — versus a resort where you toss your bags and head out to ride your fastpass rides.
And, since the experience is uniquely formed to each guest’s story, it seems like the hotel itself is being built as something a lot more intimate. The smaller area of construction is just on the back side of Galaxy’s Edge in a limited area of land. Smaller footprint = fewer people = more customized, interactive experience.
While we are SUPER excited to be able to become a part of our own Star Wars story, it’s important to note that this hotel will likely be all-inclusive — like a cruise ship. Once you check in, you’re part of the story. And while you can choose how invested you want to be with that story, the general experience isn’t meant to include popping off to Magic Kingdom to see the fireworks. When you’re here, you’re Star Wars.
Still, this experience is going to be one of the most incredible things that Disney has ever created, whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not. Although you can sign up for more information on the Galactic Starcruiser page, you can also subscribe to our newsletter for all the new details on the Star Wars hotel! Anybody else hoping that Baby Yoda will make an appearance on the Halcyon??

I wonder how many people will be shocked when they don’t leave the “hotel” until it’s time to check out? No need for ADRs or side trips and events.
No mention of cost and the last rumor I’ve read is $3300 per person. I mean two pictures? That’s it? Disappointing to say the least in terms of new information.
