Some Disney attractions are currently closed for scheduled maintenance.
Here at DFB, we like to keep you up to date on exactly which attractions are closed so you know what to expect on your Disney trip! So here’s the refurbishment update for Disney World from March 1st through March 7th.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents is currently closed to install an audio-animatronic for President Joe Biden. The tradition takes place after each newly-elected president takes office!
We don’t know when this show will open back up — it closed in January and we haven’t received any updates since then. But we’ll keep you posted as we learn more!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
Here’s some REAL breaking news. The PeopleMover is — you guessed it — still closed. After closing in March 2020, the reopening date has been pushed back multiple times. In fact, it just got pushed back AGAIN!
That’s right: after being scheduled to reopen on March 1st, the closure was extended through April 3rd, breaking our hearts. Considering we’d just seen REAL people testing the PeopleMover, we’d gotten our hopes up. Guess we’ll all have to wait a little longer to ride our favorite highway in the sky!

Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad is another classic attraction that’s been closed for over 2 YEARS! The train tracks are blocked by the TRON: Lightcycle Run construction going down in Tomorrowland, so the ride is currently shuttered.
We’ll likely have to wait a while before riding the iconic train again. It looks like TRON construction may not be wrapping up until 2022, and we’ll have to see significant progress on that project before the railroad is clear to travel around the park. Until then, we’ll snap pictures of the train station and dream about the day we can ride again!

Mad Tea Party
The Mad Tea Party closed for refurbishment on February 22nd. It’s scheduled to reopen after March 5th, so it seems like this will just be a quick project!
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates on this refurb!

Animal Kingdom Refurbishments
Kali River Rapids
Kali River Rapids is down for its typical winter refurbishment. Disney tends to temporarily close its water rides during this season, when the weather is cooler and guests are less likely to want to get wet!
The attraction closed in January and is scheduled to reopen on April 3rd, 2021.

EPCOT Refurbishments
Rose and Crown Dining Room
Rose and Crown Dining Room closed for refurbishment on February 15th. It’s scheduled to reopen in early spring!
If you want to enjoy other eats in EPCOT’s United Kingdom Pavilion, Yorkshire County Fish Shop and the Rose and Crown Pub are still open.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
We’re seeing lots of construction right now at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The monorail station was demolished, the rooms are undergoing a Moana-inspired transformation, and the entrance and lobby are being reimagined. Some Cast Members even got new costumes!
These projects are all expected to wrap up this summer. And over by the pool, Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is also closed for refurbishment through March 2021!
Okay, let’s check out the construction at some other Disney resorts. There’s pool makeovers in progress at the Hippy Dippy Pool at Disney’s Pop Century Resort and the Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. The Hippy Dippy Pool is scheduled to reopen in early March, while the Big Blue Pool should welcome back guests in early April!
We’ve also got some work being done on a waterslide! The Paddock Pool waterslide at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is undergoing construction.
The rest of the pool remains open in the meantime!

Keep an eye on these upcoming temporary closures, too: It’s Tough to Be a Bug will be closed March 8th through March 11th, 2021, and The Swiss Family Treehouse will be closed March 12th through March 25th, 2021.
As always, stay tuned to DFB! We’ll keep bringing you the latest updates on closures and other Disney news.
