Earth Month may be over, but being environmentally conscious is still important to the Disney company.
Disney has set some BIG conservation goals, and we’ve seen them in action all over the parks. From new trash cans to solar panels to reusable silverware, there are lots of little changes that make a huge impact. And now, Disney has shared some other ways that Cast Members are working together to reduce waste!
Do you remember when we told you allll about the new Cast Member costumes rolling out around the Disney World resorts? It seemed like every hotel was getting a new look! As it turns out, these costumes have been upcycled. The new aprons at Contempo Cafe, for example, were made from recycled water bottles. And every single one keeps FIFTY bottles out of the landfill!
Costume Development and Implementation Manager Michelle shared that “we’ve found that sweet spot to get functional and durable, vibrant fabrics with fun designs cast and guests will love.” Plus, every costume makes a positive environmental impact!
But that’s not the only way Cast Members are doing good. In honor of Earth Month, Cast Members at Disney’s Animal Kingdom had a creative composting contest! They designed compost bins repurposed from Quick Service locations, then voted on each other’s masterpieces by donating to the Disney Conservation Fund. Fun AND meaningful? Sign us up!
We love seeing Cast Members doing good — and having a great time while they’re at it! Stay tuned to DFB, because we’ll keep bringing you the latest Disney news.

I love these posts. I don’t wanna be *that guy* but it would be super cool if you guys could post the publishing date at the top next to the author’s name. It would be really helpful for sorting out the pre- and post- pandemic articles ^^;

Thanks, That Guy (we’ll all be expecting churros later). We’ve heard this from lots of readers, and I promise I pass on the requests. The dates are in the URL, which I hope helps clarify things.
