Disney World is constantly changing and that can make for a lot of construction.
Sometimes refurbishments can impact guest experience too, whether visually or even with closures! Well, there are certainly some refurbishments causing closures in Disney World right now and if you’re headed to the parks, you’ll want to know ’em! So, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for June 28th through July 4th, 2021.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Hall of Presidents
Let’s start in the Magic Kingdom! The Hall of Presidents currently remains closed as Imagineers install the new President Joe Biden animatronic. At this time, no opening timeline has been announced.
A new president animatronic is installed with each new head of state, so this is no surprise!

Walt Disney World Railroad
If you’ve been to Disney World in the last two years, you’ve probably found yourself missing the Walt Disney World Railroad. This iconic attraction has been closed for a LONG time due to track interruption caused by construction on the upcoming TRON Lightcycle Run attraction.
Though an opening timeline has not been announced for this fan-favorite ride, we’ll hopefully see it return as the TRON ride gets closer to completion. Unfortunately, the new ride has likely been delayed.

Main Street Confectionery
And there’s one iconic store (not ride) that remains closed next week too. Main Street Confectionery is getting a MAJOR refurbishment right now. Don’t worry though! You can still find your favorite treats at Main Street Cinema!
At this time, there are construction walls up around the spot and the nearby Chapeau remains closed too. We’ll keep you updated as soon as Disney announced a reopening!

EPCOT Refurbishments
Canada Far and Wide
We’ve got a NEW refurbishment kicking off this week as well Canada Far and Wide, the CircleVision 3D film in EPCOT will close on June 27th.
Disney has not released much information about this refurbishment or when it will end but we’ll be sure to keep you updated!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Now let’s chat about some hotel refurbishments! Of course, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is STILL under construction with a huge resort-wide reimagining underway. When it reopens, we’ll see changes to the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station.
And, the guest rooms are getting a Moana-inspired makeover! We can’t WAIT to see them in person!
As a reminder, the monorail station is closed at this time. The new rooms are available beginning July 19th and the rest of the renovation should wrap up this summer too.
Here’s How to Book a Room at a Reopened Polynesian!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
AND Disney’s Contemporary Resort’s Main Tower is in the midst of some BIG TIME construction too. The Main Tower Guest Rooms are being refurbished and Disney just revealed the VERY cool Incredibles-inspired new room designs!
Of course, that construction is PRETTY disruptive in the lobby right now! Look at all that scrim!
Also, keep in mind that The Wave restaurant is closing for a REIMAGINING in July.
The room refurbishment should wrap up in September!
