The 50th Anniversary is here and we’re covering EVERYTHING going on around the Disney parks and resorts, which means spotting a TON of new snacks!
We’ve already tried some attraction-themed food, a very classy cake, and a bath tub full of ice cream. Now we’re stopping by Animal Kingdom to try a new cupcake that’s a bit on the wicked side.
Over at Restaurantosaurus, you can grab the Maleficent Dragon Cupcake for $5.99. This treat is a purple velvet cupcake with “dragon blood orange curd” inside and vanilla frosting on top. It’s decorated with an edible picture of Maleficent as a dragon, white chocolate flames, and green and purple crispy pearls.
We were intrigued by the fact that this is a purple velvet cupcake, so we were excited to try this!
The most unique thing about the cupcake actually wasn’t the cake — it was the dragon blood orange curd inside. We thought this citrus-y curd had a delicious flavor that paired really well with the moist cake.
The cupcake had a LOT of FROSTING piled on top. So this one is for our Disney frosting fans — you know who you are! Overall this treat has some unique flavors. And it’s just a really cool-looking treat with those chocolate flames coming out of it!
If you’re hoping for a more rich or exciting dessert, this probably shouldn’t be your top choice. But it’s a tasty treat and the curd inside makes it a little more interesting than your average cupcake.
We’re covering EVERYTHING from the big 50th Anniversary celebration, so stay tuned with DFB for more!
