Disney Genie just launched in Disney World, and we’re bringing you along with us as we try out all the new features.
Genie is the new planning tool that is available through My Disney Experience. It also includes Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selections, which have replaced FastPass+ in the parks and cost money. We already knew about the cost of Genie+ and select Individual Attractions, but we discovered an unexpected cost today when purchasing these features through Genie.
Genie+ gives you access to make reservations for the Lightning Lanes of 46 attractions, but you can only book one attraction at a time. You also cannot re-ride the same attraction using Genie+ — if you want to go on the attraction again, you have to use the regular standby line. Genie+ is $15 per day, per person to use in Disney World.
However, when you go to purchase Genie+, you will also have tax added on to the total price. This brought our total to $15.98.
So, Genie+ is technically almost $16 with tax!
The same goes for purchasing Individual Lightning Lanes for high-demand rides like Rise of the Resistance or Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. When we bought our Individual Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance, it was listed at $15, but $0.98 was added on in tax bringing the total to $15.98.
Remember, the Individual Attraction Selections all have different prices and the prices can change depending on the day. Here is a look at the prices for each ride today:
Individual attraction selection costs we’re seeing so far (reminder that these can vary)
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: $9
Runaway Railway: $8
Rise of the Resistance: $15
Space Mountain: $7
Seven Dwarves Mine Train: $10
Frozen Ever After: $9
Flight of Passage: $11
Everest: $7— Disney Food Blog (@DisneyFoodBlog) October 19, 2021
So, when you’re budgeting for your Disney World trip, make sure to include the added tax, because it can add up! Stay tuned to DFB as we continue to use Disney Genie throughout the day.

Breaking news. Tax is still being charged in USA.
Natasha says
Are the single rider lanes still available on some of the rides that have pay-per-ride?
DFB Sarah says
Natasha, single rider queues are still available (yesterday we spotted the one for Expedition Everest with, essentially, no line.

So if I want to check out the new and popular rides for a four day WDW vacation I will have to pay $60 for genie and then another $76 to go on the extra cost rides? That is an extra $550 for a family of four + tax, that was not being charged a couple of weeks ago. I think we will skip Disney this year. Maybe after the 50th celebration other options will appear.
DFB Sarah says
Greg, you don’t have to buy Genie+ in order to book the Individual Attraction Selections (i.e. Rise of the Resistance, Remy’s, Flight of Passage, etc.), so if you went that route, it would be just the IAS prices (still a substantial increase). All of the IAS rides have a Standby queue (with the exception of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure which offers a virtual queue), so you can skip paying for them, too. But you’ll be at the whim of Standby line times. If you don’t mind waits and/or if you’re adept at making the most of the wait times in the app, you may well have a great trip with more reasonable waits without paying for Genie+ and IAS.
