Mary Poppins might’ve suggested just a spoonful of sugar, but we’ve had multiple spoonfuls of sugar at Disney World this week, and we’re just getting started.
That’s because we’re trying out all the Valentine’s Day snacks that have been released at the resort so you’ll know which ones to get and which ones to skip. So we’re sipping on a Valentine’s Day Flight, munching on a Chocolate Cherry Blondie Pop, and turning up the heat with some Cinnamon beignets. But now it’s time for ANOTHER treat!
We’re at Trolley Car Café at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where we usually indulge in our beloved Carrot Cake Cookie. This time, though, we’re trying out the special Valentine’s Day Red Velvet Whoopie Pie. This is Red velvet cake filled with cream cheese buttercream and topped with strawberry buttercream.Â
Although this new snack is similar to the Holiday Whoopie Pie, the addition of strawberry buttercream on top gives it a little extra sugary oomph. It’s also a LOT smaller than its holiday counterpart, and maybe that’s why it’s also very wobbly — seriously, this dessert is not structurally sound. We had trouble getting it to stand up on its own for photos.
However, what it lacks in structural integrity, it more than makes up for in taste. The cake is very moist, and there’s plenty of that delicious thick cream cheese frosting in the middle to satisfy our sweet tooth. We also liked how the sprinkles and pearls added some crunch. The strawberry buttercream on top just added an extra delicious element to it all — and it tastes like REAL strawberry and not artificial flavoring.
You do need to be a fan of red velvet cake to appreciate this snack, though, so keep that in mind before ordering. If you’re looking to try it out, it’s available now through February 14th for $5.29.
We’re eating ALL the Valentine’s Day treats, so stay tuned for more reviews!
