There is so much new food coming to Disney World right now!

We have special eats and drinks hitting the parks in honor of Father’s Day, summer, and soon, the Food & Wine Festival in EPCOT! But of course, we can’t forget about the regular additions that trickle into Disney World! And speaking of, Sunshine Seasons just got a new menu item, so you know we had to give it a try!
We headed over to EPCOT to try the new Mediterranean Vegetable Sandwich at Sunshine Seasons! It has roasted red peppers, red onions, tomatoes, arugula, hummus, and balsamic vinaigrette, served on herbed focaccia bread! It also comes with a side of potato chips! (Spoiler: If you liked the Lighthouse Sandwich that used to be offered at Columbia Harbour House, you’re in for a treat!)

When we bit into this sandwich, the herbed focaccia immediately hit our taste buds, as it was packed with flavor! The peppers, onion, and arugula were tossed in the balsamic vinaigrette, which provided a nice, refreshing crunch. And the hummus? It provided a smooth, creamy texture to pair with the crunch! Again, this reminds us of the Lighthouse Sandwich that used to be at Columbia Harbour House, except it’s better, thanks to the herbed focaccia bread!Â

We usually find plant-based offerings fall flat when compared to other options around Disney World, however, this may be one of our favorite quick service options in EPCOT! If there’s anything we would change, it would be the time of day that we got our sandwich! While we enjoyed the focaccia bread, it was a bit on the stale side. We believe that may not be an issue if we order the item earlier in the day, which we recommend you try to do, too! But overall, this is a great option for everyone — even if you don’t go out of your way to search for plant-based options!

Do you know if they serve the Mediterranean Sandwich anywhere else in the parks? I used to really look forward to it when we stay in Pop Century but they have taken it off menu. I think it was the best vegetarian option there. Glad to see it’s at least in Epcot!
