It’s no secret that Disney World is very busy right now, and one park is seeing a lot of action: Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
There’s a lot to see and do at Hollywood Studios, from Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, to newer rides like Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and everything in between. That’s why it’s no wonder that there’s usually a lot of news at this park, so let’s get right into it!
Hollywood Studios Construction Updates
Alright, we know that this one isn’t technically in Hollywood Studios, but it is relevant, we promise! The Tower of Terror road sign has been removed. The sign has stood there for years, but it was recently torn down overnight.
For a lot of people, the sign was how they knew they had finally arrived in Disney.
Toy Story Land
There’s some ongoing construction happening over in Toy Story Land right now as the area prepares to welcome a new sit down restaurant, Roundup Rodeo BBQ, and a brand new gift shop found at the end of Toy Story Mania called Jessie’s Trading Post. When we were there recently, we noticed an update.
There’s a new mural in the exit for Toy Story Mania for the gift shop. There’s still no opening timeline for the shop, but progress is being made!
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
Alright, back to the regularly scheduled programming. The Dianoga is still missing from the water fountain in Galaxy’s Edge. He’s been missing for a while now, and the tank you used to be able to see him in has been boarded up. The animatronic is likely receiving routine maintenance.
There are also still bushes in front of what appears to be the area for the new bounty hunting game coming to Galaxy’s Edge following the release of the MagicBand+.
Construction has been happening behind these bushes, and we’re excited to try out the game when it is finally introduced! MagicBand+ is expected to be released this summer, but Disney hasn’t shared details about a specific date yet.

Hollywood Studios Attraction Updates
Star Wars Launch Bay is officially back open and hosting character meet and greets! Darth Vader and Chewbacca returned to the area several days early, but now BB-8 is back meeting and greeting again!
If your Hollywood Studios plans include a trip to Launch Bay, note that it is currently listed in the My Disney Experience app as closed.
When we were there, it was up and running, but it seems like it may be subject to change, so it might be a good idea to double check when you arrive to the park!
