There are many treats in Disney World that we’re massive fans of.

For example, the massive Cinnamon Roll and newer Crème Brûlée Croissant are some of our go-to options in Magic Kingdom, we love trying out the different festival booths in EPCOT, Lunch Box Tarts in Hollywood Studios are sometimes hit or miss (but when they hit, they HIT), and Animal Kingdom is just KNOWN for their iconic treats around the parks. However, there’s one item that we always HOPE will be good, and often never is, and our most recent experience wasn’t any different.

Disney World cupcakes are often one of the most disappointing snacks you can get in the entire resort. Which is really unfortunate, because they almost always look so delicious and eye-catching! Alas, we find them to be dry, unexciting, bland — the list goes on. Knowing that reputation doesn’t keep us from wanting to give them a second (and third, and fourth, and hundredth chance) though, so when we saw this adorable new Simba Cupcake at Zuri’s Sweets Shop, we wanted to give it a try.

This is a lemon cupcake with blueberry filling, and we adore the milk chocolate Simba on the top of it! The colors of this cupcake really make it stand out, but just a heads up, that means there’s a lot of food coloring in here, so it’ll dye your hands, mouth, and anything else it comes in contact with.

We were super excited about the flavors of this cupcake because lemon is a little more exciting than regular chocolate and/or vanilla, but alas…we were left disappointed once again. IT’S SO DRY! The flavor of the cupcake was great — the lemon certainly came through and while the blueberry filling was thick, more like a jelly, we enjoyed the flavor of it as well, but the whole treat was so dry it was almost hard to eat.

We were hoping that the filling and/or frosting of the cupcake would help with the cake itself being so dry, but it didn’t cut through it enough for us. Overall, it’s a great cupcake for a quick Instagram shot, or your kiddo who loves Simba probably won’t mind (as long as they like lemon and blueberry), but otherwise, we recommend skipping it and grabbing almost any other snack out there.
