More change is in the air at Disneyland Resort!
Disneyland has plans to close multiple attractions this spring, including “it’s a small world,” Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout, and The Disneyland Story Presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Not only that, but we just learned that changes are coming to the iconic “it’s a small world” attraction and the Main Street Opera House!
Disneyland’s “it’s a small world” attraction is CHANGING! That’s right, beginning July 17th, a new, third verse will premiere in the “It’s a Small World” song, written by the iconic Sherman Brothers. The ride is currently closed through the spring with no official reopening date yet.
The new verse was written by Richard M. Sherman “in his final Disney contribution” and you can even watch a short film, “The Last Verse,” which celebrates the “timeless connection and hope” behind the classic song. You can check out the new verse below:
“Mother Earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”
In addition to the changes at “it’s a small world” and the Main Street Cinema, an all-new gallery experience “featuring the evolution of Walt Disney’s dream of Disneyland” will debut at the Main Street Opera House on July 17th.
Disney shared that never-before-seen images, art, and artifacts will be on display that show Disneyland before, during, and after Walt’s dream became a reality. As you make your way further into the Opera House, you’ll find the story and history of Audio-Animatronics technology, from Walt’s day all the way up to today.
Not only that, but in collaboration with the Walt Disney Family Museum, original items from Walt’s private apartment above the Fire Station on Main Street will be featured — including a rocking chair, lamp, and table.
And, you can get a close look at items including Walt’s 1955 Emmy award for the “Walt Disney’s Disneyland” TV show, his Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded by President Johnson in 1964, and the Walt Disney Commemorative Medal presented to Lillian Disney by President Nixon in 1969.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest updates from Disneyland. Don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more Disney news!
