Yes, Disney World used to put up Christmas decorations overnight, and while that was incredibly magical to enter a complete winter wonderland, it’s also fun to go on a scavenger hunt to find all the new holiday decorations popping up each day.
Even more Christmas decorations have popped up at Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, and y’all, every year we just love it more and more. Our favorites are back, and we’re sharing the Christmas spirit here with you. Go ahead and grab your Christmas tree out of storage because after seeing this, you might just agree it’s time to decorate.
Of course, we have to start by saying hello to Gertie in Hollywood Studios! Gertie is our beloved sea monster who wears a Santa hat during the holiday season. There’s also a huge Christmas tree nearby! You cannot miss taking a family photo in front of the tree.
Where you scan into the park, you can also see more Christmas trees covering lampposts with colorful ornaments. I wish I could buy that garland for my house because I love the bright ornaments.
There are literally so many Christmas trees. I loved taking pictures here during my first Jollywood Nights. Once the sky gets dark, everything starts to twinkle and sparkle.
Oh, what’s Jollywood Nights, you may ask? Jollywood Nights is the after-hours event that runs on select nights in Hollywood Studios, where it’s Christmas overload! There’s exclusive entertainment (including a show featuring the Muppets), snacks we’ve been dreaming about all year long, and rare characters everywhere you look. It’s an additional ticket outside of your day ticket to Hollywood Studios, but it’s great for those wanting to upgrade their holiday experience.
Jollywood Nights runs from 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM, but your ticket gets you into the park at 5:30 PM for some extra time in the parks. There are often shorter lines for attractions, too, so you can get some extra rides on your favorites. I rode Slinky Dog Dash three times last year!
Speaking of Slinky Dog Dash, let’s check out Toy Story Land! Woody was there, greeting us with his scarf on and with massive ornaments on the sign.
I am being completely serious when I say I look forward to this one decoration every year. I NEED this Hamm cookie in my life so badly. When you visit, please take a picture with him so you can get the pure joy of seeing Hamm in cookie form.
While these lights are always up, if you look closer at Rex, he’s wearing antlers! Pluto might have some reindeer competition if Rex is around.
Let’s take a turn and head to Animal Kingdom! Their Christmas tree is outside the park and has nods to different animals and characters.
Seriously, I’m obsessed. Tigger is in a jack-in-the-box, and Piglet looks like a stuffed animal. Even Jiminy Cricket is getting his time to shine. Many of the ornaments look hand-carved, which ties into the Animal Kingdom aesthetic.
I see some familiar faces here, too! The Lion King and Tarzan are represented in fun toy shapes.
Finally, there’s even more garland by the entrance to Animal Kingdom. These are bright and colorful, and the bows are gorgeous. I could spend weeks admiring all of the holiday decorations across Disney World and never get bored.
