Heading to Florida for New Year’s Eve to celebrate at Disney World or maybe Universal Orlando? We’re jealous, first of all! We’ll be there to ring in the new year and share all the details here with you, but knowing you’ll get to celebrate yourself is pretty cool, too.
Second of all, we hope you’re packing your jackets, because it’s about to get CHILLY in Orlando! In fact, it’s about to get so cold that there’s a warning of falling iguanas everyone should heed. We know that sounds silly, but let’s be honest — if you’re about to be walking around and have an iguana fall on your head, you likely want to know why it’s happening!
WINK News Chief Meteorologist Matt Devitt has warned Floridians on his Instagram that this New Year’s Eve, it’ll be so cold in and around Orlando that it’s possible iguanas could fall from their perches in trees! However, don’t panic — these iguanas aren’t dead, they’re just temporarily stunned and immobilized from the chill.
In Orlando, with the wind chill on Wednesday morning, it’ll be around 40 degrees. Fort Myers will be 42 degrees, Gainesville at 30 degrees, but Crestview will be the coldest at 26 degrees! The further north you go, the colder it will be, so prepare yourself!
If you’re spending New Year’s Eve in Disney World, it’s important to prepare yourself for the intense crowds, especially if you find yourself in EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. All three parks will be open until midnight, have their own special shows to experience, and count down to 2026, and some even have special snacks that are only going to be available on New Year’s Eve.
