Royal Caribbean confirmed it will build a new class of ships! The cruise line announced on January 29th that it had reached a series of agreements with Chantier de l’Atlantique (CdA) shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France, to build its highly anticipated Discovery Class ships.
Royal Caribbean stated that its Discovery Class ships will “redefine how Royal’s guests experience the world.” The agreement is for two firm ship orders, with the option for up to four additional ships. The first ship is expected to debut in 2029, with the second scheduled for delivery in 2032.

The incident happened on August 7th, 2025. A water slide on Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas injured a guest when an acrylic glass panel broke off while the guest was using the slide.
