These races are the most accessible for people, as they’re the shortest distance, and allow people just getting into running to enter the races gradually. This also means that they’re some of the most popular, and registration fills up even faster for these than for other races. To work on fixing this issue, Disney has just announced something very exciting — there will now be more race availability for the 5Ks!

As a runDisney fanatic, I’m super glad that the Disney World races are seeming to increase in popularity.

After all, who doesn’t want to galavant through empty Disney parks in a fun costume while also meeting tons of RARE Disney characters? And THEN you get to wear an adorable medal around the parks! It’s super fun, and I’m happy that the events are starting to get the attention they deserve. However, there IS a downside to this increase in popularity.

Oh, the joy of a runDisney race! What? Running doesn’t sound joyous to you?

Would you participate in a runDisney race?

Well, just imagine getting to run through the parks before they open, taking backstage detours, wearing your best Disney costume, and dancing your way through the course to Disney music at every mile marker. Afterward, you get to reward yourself with all your favorite Disney snacks and wear a super cool, themed medal that will have everyone treating you like a superhero. That sound fun? Participating in a runDisney race can be a really unique and different way to experience Disney World.

2022 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend

You get to be in the parks early in the morning before any guests, you may encounter some rare characters, and, at the end of the race, you get a cool medal! There are multiple runDisney events throughout the year, including the Wine and Dine race in November, the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in January, the Princess Half Marathon Weekend at the beginning of the year, and more. Today, registration for an upcoming runDisney event opened.

NEWS! New Date Revealed for Opening of 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Registration

Registration for the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend was originally set to open on April 7th. However, the option to register for the event’s races was quietly removed from the runDisney website earlier this month.
