When we first visited The BOATHOUSE (caps official!) in Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs back in early 2015, it wowed us with its quality seaside eats and charming decor.
We enjoyed it so much in April of that year that we returned in November to see if The Boathouse was staying afloat in the ever-changing landscape of Disney Springs. And it really was!
Truth be told, we still got a little sticker shock when we perused that mostly-seafood-and-steak menu, but with the food being as good as it was, we sort of got over it. So much so that in 2017, we headed back for dinner!
Yeah, you could say we’re fans. But even when a restaurant proves itself to be consistently good (with the exception, maybe, of that crazily overpriced, not very good S’mores Baked Alaska!), it’s our duty to keep checking on things to, you know, make sure it’s still awesome. So put on your life jacket and hoist the sails because we’re hitting the high seas at The BOATHOUSE.
We’d like to introduce you to two of our newest friends in Disney Springs: Maria & Enzo!
Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante is the table service component of a trio of brand new Italian eateries in Disney Springs, along with Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar (which will open soon) and the already open Pizza Ponte.
These three restaurants, run by the Patina Restaurant Group, are part of the complete complex of The Edison. Though the three are bound together by location, atmosphere, and story, each presents its own take on Italian cuisine.
We were able to attend a Sneak Peek Media Event, which included a dedication for Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante.
The Ristorante will be open to guests soon (a full opening is anticipated by January 10th, though soft openings may precede). But just after the Media Event, the full menu was open for the evening. So today, we’re excited to bring you both a First Look AND a full review!
Boy, oh boy… do we ever have a treat for you today!
Actually, make that TWO treats. Because when we saw a sign at Vivoli il Gelato for the new Creamsicle Float and Nutella Brownie Sundae, it was a no-brainer to to get them both.
Vivoli il Gelato celebrated its one year anniversary in The Landing of Disney Springs in June. Since its arrival last summer, we’ve gained so many new eateries all over Disney Springs that it’s been difficult to have a chance to revisit some of the additions that joined the scene waaaaay back in the day — as in, 2015 😉 . But there is still so much to discover about these relatively new spots that we’re excited to step back into Vivoli il Gelato — the second storefront for the family-run gelato shop based in Florence, Italy.
Here’s the shop (it can be hard to spot, so just head towards the higher profile landmark of The Boathouse, look across the street, and Voila!)…
And here’s that sign we mentioned for the two new creations: The Nutella Brownie Sundae and the Creamsicle Float! [Read more…]
I hope that you’re sitting down.
Because we have a ton of pictures and details to share with you about Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine!
The restaurant opened with fanfare and plenty of rave reviews. And we were right there with you as we shared a first look!
If you can believe it, we’ve been back to Homecoming Florida Kitchen (hereafter shortened to HFK to save my fingers extra typing) again since opening day. As a result, we have lots of variety to share with you about this special spot.
This is a place that beckons you to slow down and sit a spell. So to begin, let’s take a nice, leisurely look around.
You’ll find HFK right in the heart of Disney Springs, where the Town Center and The Landing come together.
While the outside may look a little Plain Jane at first inspection, you may form a different opinion after your initial look. Tons of windows, shaded in part by the metal hip roof that overhangs them, is reminiscent of the Florida Vernacular style of architecture. I love that you don’t find a single ounce of faux stucco here — the building choice of most Florida homebuilders these days. [Read more…]

We’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to Vivoli il Gelato! That’s right – the Disney Springs gelateria is turning a year old! This spot has been serving scoops of housemade gelato (with many ingredients imported directly from Italy), sorbet, specialty espresso beverages and baked goods since last June when it first opened its doors. What a difference a year makes, huh? Since Vivoli il Gelato opened, it has been joined in Disney Springs by spots like Joffrey’s Tea Traders Café, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, Morimoto Asia, and The Ganachery… and that’s JUST in The Landing neighborhood alone! All of that makes this first birthday for Vivoli il Gelato even more momentous, seeing as it can now be considered one of the bona fide veterans of the Disney Springs dining locations added over the past year.
And to celebrate the anniversary, the spot will be serving a limited-run flavor for THIS WEEKEND ONLY! While supplies last, Disney Springs guests will have the chance to try a custom-made Tiramisu Gelato, based on the traditional Italian dessert. [Read more…]
We know we have a lot of great new arrivals to look forward to in Disney Springs very soon! May 15th alone will bring the debut of the new Town Center of the Springs along with the opening of four new eateries on the same day: Amorette’s Patisserie, B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co., The Daily Poutine, and Sprinkles.
But what about STK Orlando, the modern, high-end steakhouse set to open in The Landing of Disney Springs? It’s been a while since there has been any news regarding this spot which was originally slated for a late 2015 opening, then rescheduled for early 2016. With early 2016 officially past, we’re happy to report that there is talk swirling around this location once again, with Disney projecting an opening this summer. [Read more…]
