Happy Thanksgiving (tomorrow), DFB Readers! Maybe you are having a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Or, if you’re spending your holiday in a Disney park, perhaps you’ve made an Advanced Dining Reservation at one of the Best Restaurants for Thanksgiving.
Well, be sure to leave a little room, because Disney World and Disneyland have some extra treats out this week for Thanksgiving guests :).
Disney World Thanksgiving Treats
Hollywood Studios has topped this Pumpkin Cupcake with Maple Icing at several counter-service locations throughout the park!
I snagged one at my favorite spot for cupcakes in the Studios: Starring Rolls Cafe. This is a very lightly spiced pumpkin cake topped with an intensely maple-flavored frosting, dusted with crushed walnuts and topped with a milk chocolate pumpkin.
Seriously – the frosting tastes JUST like maple syrup!! It’s also very dense. I was impressed with the flavor, but found it to be very sweet. After a few bites it was a little much, so I’d recommend sharing this one.
If you’re craving something a little stronger ;), stop by Tune-In Lounge or High Octane Refreshments and check out one of the specialty cocktails mixed for the holiday: a Smoked Turkey or a Spiced Jack (with a Graham Cracker Crust rim).
At Magic Kingdom, enjoy pumpkin in a variety of ways at Tony’s Town Square! There’s pumpkin soup with cinnamon crème fraîche, as well as ravioli made with the hearty squash. For dessert, check out pumpkin gelato or pumpkin cheesecake (we love the cheesecake especially)!
And Sleepy Hollow is serving up Spiced Pumpkin Waffle Sundaes.
This treat was available earlier this fall to guests at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, but this week it is available for everyone.
Over at Animal Kingdom, guests can start the day with a pumpkin muffin at Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery or Isle of Java. If you need something to wash down that muffin, you can head over to Anandapur Tea Company, or the coffee kiosk at the park’s entrance.
They’ve each been outfitted with a few extra flavors to create a couple of festive brews: pumpkin or maple-spiced raspberry latte.
In Epcot, Sunshine Seasons is the place to be for a slice of Pumpkin Cheesecake… YUM!
On Thanksgiving Day only, this will also be the spot serving gingerbread and pumpkin mousse. They’ve got their own version of the pumpkin muffin, too.
Don’t forget to keep an eye out at the Resorts for festive fare as well! We spotted these pumpkin scones (complete with Pilgrim hats!) at The Mara in Animal Kingdom Lodge.
There were some gorgeous Seasonal Caramel Apple Cupcakes as well.
Of course, the Polynesian’s Captain Cook’s couldn’t resist showing off its cupcake game just a little, with these Turkey Cupcakes (vanilla cake with chocolate frosting).
Thanksgiving Treats at Disneyland
There are also lots of delicious treats to enjoy in Disneyland as well. Jolly Holiday Bakery, the Mint Julep Bar, and Royal Street Veranda will all offer pumpkin spice lattes — perfect for taking the (very slight!) chill off the morning!
Jolly Holiday Bakery, Main Street Cappo Cart, Schmoozies, The Coffee House, and Surfside Lounge will also offer a caramel apple muffin — this sounds sooo good! Someone mail me one, please??
In addition to the other treats, Jolly Holiday, French Market, and Royal Street Veranda will also be selling pumpkin pie hot chocolate with whipped cream.
There are some fantastic Fall desserts available, too. Head to Tomorrowland Terrace for sweet potato pie, or to Harbour Galley if you have pumpkin cheesecake on the brain! And Plaza Inn will feature a favorite dessert with a twist -– a Fall-time yule log! This sounds so awesome — spice cake with pumpkin mousse and lingonberry marmalade filling and cream cheese with chocolate ganache frosting. I think I’m feeling some autumn inspiration!
Finally, it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without at least one serving of pumpkin fritters from Royal Street Veranda!
At Disney California Adventure, you’ll want to stop by Award Wieners, Pacific Wharf Café, Pacific Wharf Cappo Cart, Flo’s V8 Café and vending carts for the pumpkin pie hot chocolate with whipped cream.
All in all, it sounds like a really fun — and delicious! — time to be in the parks. If you are visiting this week, we’d love to see your food photos on our Flickr Group, Disney Food Blog Photo Extravaganza! If you aren’t posting over there yet…what are you waiting for??
No matter where you celebrate this Thanksgiving, we wish you a truly happy one with much to be thankful for!
