Guest Review: Adult Beverages Aboard the Disney Dream Cruise Ship

Adult exclusive hang-outs aboard the Disney Dream offer fun entertainment and gorgeous drinks. Sail away on the Disney Cruise Line with my good friend and guest author Julie Brontman!

Bon Voyage!

Bon Voyage!

So many people think that a Disney cruise is just for the little ones in your family, but they’re missing a whole different part of the experience! I recently went on a cruise aboard the Disney Dream with a friend and we had a great time as two adults on a “kid cruise.”

One of the best ways to explore that adult side of a cruise is to visit the bars and nighttime entertainment area, known as “The District.” There are many different spots, all tailored to whatever possible mood you might be in.

Evolution

Considered to be the “dance club” of the ship, Evolution has a special entertainment offering each night, such as variety show, game show, or comedy act. Afterward, there were dancers from the stage show, but in a whole different style of dance. We were honestly a little surprised to see dancers from a family entertainment show doing some risqué style dancing. But that’s a cruise for you I guess! Those Cast Members work in multiple roles every day to bring the Dream’s entertainment offerings to life.

Drink offerings at Evolution are themed around the idea of a butterfly, as is the entire club. There’s everything from your standard martini to something sweet and chocolatey. The first we tasted was the Mariposa, with No3 London Dry Gin, Martini Rosso Sweet Vermouth, Strawberry Puree, Passion Fruit Juice, and Fresh Muddled Basil Leaves. The strawberry/basil combo drew me to it, but this was way too sweet for my taste. It was like liquid candy. It was very dark inside, so this is pretty much all you can actually see of the drink.

The next cocktail we had was the Parnassus Apollo, made with Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Frangelico, Baileys, Kahlua, and Honey. This one was certainly sweet too, but in a rich, chocolatey way instead of the sickly sweet Mariposa. Anytime you put Baileys and Kahlua together you know it’s a good time! I’d recommend this drink to anyone with a sweet tooth. [Read more…]

Review: Cupid’s Kiss Latte at Joffrey’s Coffee Kiosks in Disney World

Once again, Joffrey’s Espresso Coffee & Pastries kiosks all over Disney World are serving up some specialty items to get us in the festive spirit. We checked out the Winter Specialty menu on our last visit, and now they’re helping us get ready for a caffeinated Valentine’s Day!

Espresso drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos, and mochas make up the menu along with tea and hot chocolate. Select Joffrey’s locations such as the one just outside of the American Adventure Pavilion at Epcot also offer opportunities to “spike” your coffee with your choice of Bailey’s, Kahlua, or Jameson. Spotted: Disney World “Wish I Was There” Mug

On a recent trip to the River Roost to catch a Yeeha Bob show, I couldn’t resist stopping in Fulton’s General Store (the merchandise shop in Port Orleans – Riverside Resort). For better or for worse, the past year brought on a resurgence of an old mug habit for me, due in no small part to the Resort-specific mugs that popped up around Disney World (like the one for the Contemporary Resort).

Alas, they were all out of the Port Orleans — Riverside mug that I had hoped to pick up, but I did spot this new-to-me mug while I was there.

Rather than being Resort or park-specific, this one does a nice job of showing various aspects of experiences all over the Disney World parks, featuring scrapbook-like images of favorite attractions mixed with beloved characters. For instance, here’s a little something for all you fans of Figment out there. [Read more…]

Happy 2016!! What better way to celebrate than with a bunch of rum in a pineapple!?

The Lapu Lapu may not rank quite as high on the list as the Jumbo Turkey Leg or Dole Whip as far as iconic Disney World indulgences go. Nope — this gem is for the kids in the know, and once YOU know about it, you may just want to put it #OnTheList!

First Look AND Review: Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

2016 is gearing up to be a positively HUGE year for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The headlining news revolves around the highly anticipated Rivers of Light spectacular, which — along with evening journeys at Kilimajaro Safaris also beginning sometime in the spring — will transform Animal Kingdom into a park with nighttime activities for the first time.

Naturally, this transition into a full day park will affect dining options, since expanded operating hours will result in a larger need for more dining opportunities. In fact, it’s already been announced that Animal Kingdom will also be getting its first Signature Restaurant in 2016, Tiffins.

But it’s not just huge shows and signature eateries coming to Animal Kingdom. Some additions are more subtle, but certainly still worth noting. For instance… SURPRISE!! As of this past Saturday, there is a brand new bar and snack stand you can now enjoy in Animal Kingdom’s Asia.

News: Expansion In the Works for Disney California Adventure’s Cove Bar

As you may be aware, we are huge fans of the Cove Bar at Disney’s California Adventure. Offering amazing views of Paradise Pier, above par pub grub (hello, Lobster Nachos!), and terrific — even secret — cocktails, it’s got it all.

Of course, we aren’t the only fans of this beautiful bar, as evidenced by the often-encountered lengthy wait times for a seat. [Read more…]

Review: Winter Specialty Drinks at Joffrey’s Disney Kiosks

Happy Holidays form Disney World! The trees are up. The lights are lit. And even Disney coffee is getting a festive makeover! In fact, the Joffrey’s Espresso & Pastries kiosks found all over Disney World property now have their 2015 Winter Specialty Drinks available.

Whether you know them by their proper name or not, you’ve likely strolled by many a Joffrey’s kiosk at Disney World. They are typically themed so well to their surroundings that you may not take notice of them (you can take a tour of several of the kiosks by clicking here). But it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled, since the theming of some of the beverages themselves changes with the seasons. [Read more…]
