Come with me as we head to the Big Easy – by way of the Downtown Disney District in Disneyland – and experience the party at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen!

Set in the heart of Disneyland’s shopping and entertainment district, the restaurant offers the perfect marriage of “N’awlins” jazz and flavorful Cajun cuisine – the two sensual experiences that put this famous Louisiana city on the map in the first place.

Atmosphere

With a refined decor that is both understated and yet fun at the same time, you will swear that you have been somehow magically transported directly from Anaheim to the heart of the French Quarter. Several dining rooms on two levels of the restaurant surround a vibrant [Read more…]

Sno-Balls at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Express (Disneyland’s Kaki-Gori!)

To kick off Mardi Gras weekend, I thought it’d be fun to highlight one of the little-known treats at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Express in Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District!

This is a counter-service location serving some great New Orleans specialties, including hand-made beignets (AWESOME — stay tuned for a review of those babies), po-boys, catfish, gumbo, jambalaya, Mint Juleps, and more! And how many times have I just walked right by this place on my way to Disneyland??

Anyway, one of the newer treats debuted at the Jazz Kitchen Express are the Sno-Balls! A lot like shave ice or Kaki-Gori, these are icy treats doused in sweet, sour, and specialty syrups!

They even have condensed milk, chocolate, and coffee flavored options. You can easily compare these to the Kaki-Gori found in Epcot’s Japan in Disney World!

Sno-Balls Menu

Predictable me chose sour lemon and cherry for my Sno-Ball! It was [Read more…]

Dining in Disneyland: Gingerbread House Workshop at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen

After a super successful Haunted House Building Workshop with my family in October, I knew that we’d be back in December for the Gingerbread House Workshop…

Note: If you are in the Disneyland area, you still have time to register for the December 17th & 18th (THIS WEEKEND) Gingerbread House Workshops. Call Bruno Duarte asap at 714.776.5200 from 10am-4pm Monday-Friday. These workshops WILL SELL OUT.

Gingerbread House Workshop Information

Since this was not our first gingerbread rodeo, we were overly prepared for this workshop (after being under prepared at Halloween).  I had stocked up on supplies from Michael’s Arts & Crafts as well as Target. We knew going in that we were going to be making a serious masterpiece!

Some of our "extra" supplies!

Atmosphere and Haunted House Prep

Arriving right on time, we had just a few minutes to get organized and check out the set up. The room was once again arranged with large tables and reserved seating. We also had fun jingle bell necklaces waiting for us on our chairs!
