In addition to all the other news being shared by Disney World today referencing hotel stays, we’ve got a newly pushed back date for cancellation and change fee waivers.
Previously, Disney World had stated that cancellation and change fees on hotel reservations would be waived through “the end of the closures.” Now that we have a reopening date for the theme parks, Disney has also pushed back the its date allowing guests to update and modify — and even cancel — their reservations even further.
The powers that be at Disney World know that things are going to be very…DIFFERENT…at the parks and resorts in the coming months. As a result, they’re allowing guests a few more months to make up their minds about whether or not to take the plunge and travel to the parks this year.
Guests can now change or cancel their vacations up to October 3rd, 2020, without incurring a fee from Disney World.
Note that if you’ve booked your Disney World vacation through a third party, cancellation, change fees, and deadlines may be different. Check with them directly for updates to change and cancellation fees.
We’ll be bringing you LOTS more information and details on the hotels and parks reopening here at DFB! Stay tuned, and don’t forget to join our newsletter!

Hi, is there any clarity for international travellers, as after reading Disneys Holiday T&Cs there are two cancellation fees and one for the Main Holiday and one for the Flights. We have booked the entire package through Disney for 10th August and we want to cancel, but worried we will take the hit for the flights. is there any update from Disney for those of us who have flights included in the package
DFB Sarah says
Jarrod, unfortunately I haven’t seen anything for international travelers. We will update when we do see more info. I’m sorry; this must be so frustrating, and I wish I had more information for you.

Hi, just an update we phoned Walt Disney Holidays (UK) and specifically asked what charges would be applied if we decided to cancel our holiday for the 10th August 2020. The cast member told us we would just be loose our flight deposits of £100 PP which is not what the T&Cs state. We have now written an email to Disney for confirmation, as we can accept losing £100PP but certainly not the entire cots of four flights , so will update you once we have an response as we just want to cancel our holiday and move on as for us there are too many uncertainties and unknowns for a holiday of a life time that costs many thousands of pounds and like many others we had not budgeted for meals as this was included in the original package
DFB Sarah says
Jarrod, thanks for the update! I’m sorry things feel so uncertain; it’s a very strange time indeed.

Hi again, just wondering if anyone knew the answer to this? Our original booking is to stay at carribean beach resort but when we rebook we may go for a deluxe resort as we never have before. Do all deluxe resorts offer walk in showers instead of tubs? This will be for my elderly perents 65+!? Thank you so much for you help. Deborah xxx
DFB Sarah says
Hi, Deborah! If you have specific Resorts in mind, you’ll likely be able to find room tours online or photos to help you figure out what will work for you. You could also ask for a handicap-accessible room if that would make your parents more comfortable.

Hi, We have had written confirmation from Walt Disney Holidays UK, stating they will only charge us £100pp which is a flight cancellation fee for our package Holiday for the 10th August 2020. We have now cancelled our holiday and prepared to lose the £400. With the loss of the dining plan and all the other detailed changes, it was not the holiday we originally booked and we decided that we would rather have the majority of our money back, and then we can decide at our leisure when is the best time to return to Florida. This is our personal choice and only sharing our experience as it may help others in the same situation. Our concern was if the flight restrictions are lifted and the WDW hotels re-opens we may end up taking a holiday with some of the excitement missing whilst having to find an additional budget for meals. I would like to thank this site as its been absolutly brilliant for updates, responses to questions and advise, and hope all those travelling to Disney have a brilliant time and we will be visiting Disney again some time in the furture
DFB Sarah says
Jarrod, I’m sorry you ended up having to cancel, but it sounds like you’ve made some peace with it. The World will be there when you’re ready to go back. And we’ll keep updating along the way. 🙂

Hi All,
I have just received my email asking if we wish to go ahead without our dining plans and a 35% room discount, rebook for 2021 or cancel completely with a full refund less the flight deposit amount £100 each as we have paid everything in full.
We have decided to call tomorrow and reschedule our big family holiday to very end of October 29th till 15th December so we can book and enjoy both micky’s not so scary Halloween party and micky’s very merry Christmas party. Which hotel should I book for a New renovated rooms with a walk in shower instead of a tub from beach club or yacht club please?? Thank you so much for all your advice and support, we greatly appreciate your help and will continue to watch your videos and blog and we bought your guides for last year and this year so will definitely buy next year’s guides.

Hi, Would like to share our final update with our cancellation experience with Disney. We cancelled our package holiday on the 10th June and we have received our refund on the 13th June which is within 3 days .This is absolutely amazing and this has put our faith back in Disney, as we have all read other experiences where refunds where not that easy. Disney have handled this very well and we won’t think twice when its time to rebook in the future, we are going to wait till 2022 when hopefully all the building work is done, the dining plans are back and the virus is gone (Fingers crossed). take care and hope all your plans go well and stay safe

Thanks, Jarrod!
