We’ve seen a list of Disneyland restaurants scheduled to reopen, and today Refreshment Corner reopened with a brand new hot dog that we HAD to try! Warning — this hot dog is SPICY!
Refreshment Corner’s menu includes theme park food staples, like Mickey pretzels, hot dogs, and even a mac & cheese hot dog!
Today we discovered the Esquite Hot Dog, which is described as a foot-long hot dog with crushed corn chips and corn esquite mix, and topped with Cotija cheese, chili-cayenne powder, and grilled onion garnish. For $11.99 you get the hot dog along with either a Cuties mandarin orange or a bag of chips.
So what’s this hot dog like? Just take a look! It tastes like a mix between an Elote (Mexican Street Corn) and a hot dog! The cotija cheese is salty and creamy and the corn esquite mix is charred with tangy lime flavors. YUM.
The Frito chips add a great crunch into the mix and the chili-cayenne power makes this VERY spicy, but all the flavors work well together! If you are a fan of spicy, this hot dog is for you.
This hot dog may look familiar to some of you — it used to be at this location under the name Elote Hot Dog. It originally came to the Refreshment Corner for the debut of the Magic Happens Parade, and although it is similar, there are a few small changes! The Elote Hot Dog did not have corn chips on top, but it did have chipotle mayo, which is missing from the new Esquite Hot Dog.
We thought this hot dog is delicious, though if you don’t like spicy foods you may want to skip it! You can find the Esquite Hot Dog at Refreshment Corner in Disneyland for $11.99. Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disneyland news!
