Disney World attractions, rides, and restaurants can close down for a myriad of reasons, sometimes planned and sometimes not.
The unplanned closures are usually due to weather or technical issues, but there are also some scheduled closures for maintenance that you can plan for during your trip. We like to keep you updated on what’s going to be closed in Disney World so that you’re not blindsided when you arrive in the parks!
We’re taking a look around the Disney World parks and hotels to see which rides, attractions, and hotels will be closed next week for refurbishments.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Kali River Rapids has been closed for a while in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This water ride closed on November 1st, 2021, and it’s had a bit of a saga concerning its reopening.
When the ride first closed, its reopening was scheduled for mid-December, 2021. It briefly changed to be opening on January 1st, 2022, then on December 16th, 2021, and then to January 4th, 2022. Now, this ride is scheduled to open on December 16th, 2021.
We’re hoping that this reopening date will stick and the ride will be open and ready for guests this coming Thursday! But we’ll keep you updated if anything changes.

EPCOT
Over in EPCOT, Souk-al-Magreb (which is a gift shop in the Morocco pavilion at World Showcase) is still closed as well.
This gift shop has also been closed for a while, but we finally have a new reopening date for it! Right now, Disney World’s schedule has this shop reopening on February 6th, 2022. We’ve still got a ways to go, then, before we’ll see it back open in EPCOT.
The closure could be due to the supply shortages that we’re seeing impact other Disney World gift shops, and even closing down one shop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Magic Kingdom
The Walt Disney World Railroad is closed in the Magic Kingdom, and it currently does not have a reopening date.
The train is getting some refurbishments done, and it’s also not able to run because of construction over in Tomorrowland that interrupted the train tracks. The construction (on the upcoming TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster) does not have an end date yet, so we’re not sure when we could see the railroad reopen. It did begin testing this week though!
We’re assuming that the railroad will reopen when TRON finishes construction, so we’ll keep you updated on any news regarding opening dates for either of those attractions.

Disney World Hotels
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is the only Disney World hotel that still hasn’t opened. It was supposed to open in December this year, but Disney announced that it would remain closed for more refurbishments.
As of now, there is no reopening date for this hotel. But the two other All-Star Resorts — All-Star Movies and All-Star Music — are both open at this time.

Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside Resort
At Port Orleans – Riverside, a restaurant is finally reopening! Boatwright’s Dining Hall is opening on December 14th.
This spot has some tasty southern cooking, like jambalaya, Nashville hot chicken, and shrimp & grits.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, the Disney Vacation Club Villas are under construction right now as Disney adds some enhancements to the rooms. There will be new pull-down beds added to the villas to allow for more sleeping room inside.
