Disneyland Resort was closed for 412 days throughout 2020 and 2021 due to the global pandemic, and it finally reopened in April 2021. While some things have returned to a new level of “normal,” the Disneyland president recently stated that the park is about halfway through the extended phased reopening process.
Recently, we’ve been able to enjoy the 2022 Food & Wine Festival in Disney California Adventure, and even the famous chocolate-covered fudge Easter eggs are back! Now a special music program is returning to Disneyland this summer, and here’s when you can catch some tunes again on Main Street, U.S.A.!
There’s a variety of musical entertainment you can find in Disneyland, but the Disneyland All-American College Band program has been suspended since 2020. Today, however, they announced the return of the band SOON! According to the Disneyland All-American College Band Facebook page, “the band will once again welcome some of the top student musicians from across the country,” with plans to march down Main Street, U.S.A. once again beginning this summer.
The band is presented by Yamaha, and according to their Facebook page, the 2022 program has already been cast. As reported by the Orange County Register, 21 band members are chosen from over 300 students applying from U.S. colleges, and they receive hands-on training with “world-renowned artists and producers” for an unforgettable and valuable career experience.
The All-American College Band has been performing along Main Street, U.S.A. (as well as in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle and the Town Square) since 1971, and they typically perform classic Disney songs like “Under the Sea” and “Let It Go,” along with some special dance moves.
No official return date has been announced yet, but in the past, the band has performed for about 11 weeks total, five days a week. Stay tuned to DFB for an update about the return date for the Disneyland All-American College Band!
