You’ve purchased your tickets and made park pass reservations, booked your hotel, and now you’re ready for your Disney World vacation.
But your schedule only allows for one day in each park – and you want to make the most of it! When should you get there? What should you ride first? And most importantly of all – where are you going to eat?! Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with your ultimate 1-day plan for EPCOT!
You’ve got just one day to spend in the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, so how are you going to tackle it?! Have no fear, because we’ve put together a 1-day plan for EPCOT that we think hits on just about everything this park has to offer.
So, let’s get this party started!
Decide How You Want to Approach Rides
Going to Disney World ain’t like it used to be — it takes some planning these days. You have to figure out what your strategy is going to be for riding popular attractions, and there are a few different ways you can go about it. Lightning Lane Multi Pass can be useful for hitting most of the rides in the park, including popular options like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Test Track, and Frozen Ever After, without much wait.
If you’re hoping to ride EPCOT’s most popular ride, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you can purchase access to the Lightning Lane with Lightning Lane Single Pass. The third Lightning Lane option available is Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which gives you one-time access to every Lightning Lane in the park without having to reserve return times in advance.
Everything You Need to Know About Lightning Lanes in Disney World
But there are still ways to avoid some long lines in the parks without having to pay for it — like rope dropping! This essentially just means getting to the park right when it opens (or even a few minutes beforehand). It gives you an opportunity to head to some of the most popular rides before the rest of the crowds get there later in the day!
If you’re staying in a Disney World Resort or Disney Springs Area hotel, you might be able to take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry, where hotel guests can get up to 30 minutes early in the parks!

Mobile Order at Your Favorite Quick-Service Spots
Mobile Order can be a serious saving grace in Disney World — just place your order at participating dining locations via the My Disney Experience app, and then once your food is ready, just head to the counter and pick it up! At the time of this writing, EPCOT has five different mobile order options available: Connections Cafe and Eatery, Karamell Küche, Regal Eagle Smokehouse, Sommerfest, and Yorkshire County Fish Shop.
We typically recommend trying to eat at off-peak times to avoid any sort of breakfast, lunch, or dinner rushes — and mobile order windows can fill up quickly at popular restaurants, too. Pro Tip: If you think you’re going to want Regal Eagle Smokehouse (or any other mobile order location) for lunch, you can order it in the morning and schedule it for later in the day. This can help ensure you get to eat when you want.
If you’re heading to EPCOT during a festival (which is pretty much all the time), take advantage of some of the limited-time snacks and drinks available at the different festival booths! With DOZENS of places to eat at Disney World, we know it can be tough to plan your meals.
That’s why we wrote the DFB Guide to Dining at Walt Disney World. We have reviews, pictures, and details about every restaurant all in one digital download – along with ALL of our best tips and strategies from decades of Disney World trips.

Pay Attention to Attraction Wait Times Throughout the Day
Remember how we mentioned you should try to eat at off-peak times? This can help you in two ways: dining locations are less busy at off times, and when everyone else is sitting down to eat during the lunch rush, you can take advantage of potentially shorter attraction wait times.
This can also apply to other popular experiences that draw crowds in Disney World, like parades or fireworks — oftentimes, you can walk right onto some of the most popular rides if you skip these events! Just make sure the trade-off is worth it to you. If you can’t leave Disney World without catching a parade or the fireworks, this might not be a good plan.
If you’re trying to kill time between reservations or the next big thing on your list, check out “filler rides” or attractions with typically low waits. Some of our favorites are Journey Into Imagination with Figment or The Seas with Nemo and Friends.
Head to an EPCOT Festival
Depending on the time of year you’re visiting EPCOT, chances are there’s going to be a festival going on! For some, having the ULTIMATE EPCOT day means eating to your heart’s content as you enjoy all the different food booths and cultures represented.
And, even though there are a few different festivals throughout the year, you can bank on delicious eats, treats, special entertainment, merchandise, and more at every single one.

Learn Something About a Different Culture
Some of the things we love most about EPCOT are all the World Showcase pavilions and the different cultures that are represented in the park. Take in a Mariachi Cobre show or learn about Vikings and Gods in Norway. Taste the “local” cuisines and get an idea of what it might be like to actually visit these countries if you haven’t already.
When you’re done, head on over to Mitsukoshi in Japan to be immersed in Japanese culture through all sorts of incredible merchandise. There are so many incredible details and information just waiting to be uncovered on your next visit.

Meet Characters
Oh, what’s that? You wanted to meet some characters while you’re at EPCOT? You’re in luck, because there are character meet and greets GALORE in this park. Anna and Elsa? Check. Donald Duck in a sombrero? Check. Snow White, Jasmine, and Mary Poppins? Triple check.
And of course, no Disney World theme park character meet and greet lineup would be complete without the main mouse himself — Mickey! You’ll find him and Minnie Mouse meeting in this park.

Finally, end your ULTIMATE 1-day EPCOT trip with the nighttime spectacular, Luminous — The Symphony of Us. The show features hit music from Disney movies, as well as pyrotechnics, fire effects, and lasers.
It debuted in 2023 as part of the Disney100 celebrations.

I used to enjoy, loved going to EPCOT. It was the adult Magic Kingdom and more. It’s too bad what Disney is turn9ng it in to. Now filled with dark thrill rides, it does no longer posses the learning environment that set it apart from the competition. Some educational, some cultural, some thrilling, some future ideas. EPCOT had it all and now it is all gone. As you enter past Spaceship Earth, you encounter 3 dark thrill rides to your left, with no educational value, that is not family friendly. To the right, you have what is left of the cultural aspects of what EPCOT once was. Too bad. Then the Harmonious folly set the final stake in the World Showcase heart by clouding up the view from one part of the world to the other. For those of us who do not travel the world, EPCOT World Showcase was a respite in the WDW portfolio. Harmonious destroyed the look that was inspirational between all of the participating nations. I used to go to EPCOT just to see Reflections and the other specialities that have been a part of the night time entertainment. I will not go to see Harmonious again, went once, hated it. The music is not inspirational, the songs are not memorable, the lighting is abusive, the fireworks are poor in comparison to what Disney has done in the past. A tragedy.
