There’s a LOT to do in Disney World, from roller coasters to ride, shows to see, and snacks to eat. But some of those things are not available all the time!
Disney will periodically close rides, attractions, shows, and restaurants in order to update and improve them. That means that you might see a few temporary closures during your upcoming trip to the parks. Don’t worry — we’ve got a full list of what’s going to be CLOSED in Disney World next week.
We’ve got a full list of what’ll be temporarily closed at Disney World’s parks and hotels. But a quick note before we dive into the closures: If you’re going to visit Disney World soon, you’ll need the perfect outfit to wear into the parks! We’ve got a lot of great tees and sweatshirts (including some holiday designs!) at our online DFB store — Click here to check out our whole merch line.
Now that you’re ready with the perfect Disney shirts, check out our full list of what’s going to be CLOSED in Disney World this week.
Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World Railroad
Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for the Walt Disney World Railroad, which has been closed for YEARS. However, they recently released a video showing that the trains are being tested for reopening!
Part of the reason for the railroad’s closure has been construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run (the new roller coaster coming to Tomorrowland), which has interrupted the railroad tracks over in that area. But we’ve seen crews working on getting those tracks back in place!
There’s still not a set reopening date for the railroad, but we’ll be watching for any announcements!
Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.
Speaking of Tomorrowland, one gift shop over there is closed as well. The Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. gift shop is getting some refurbishments done right now.
Guests usually exit Space Mountain through this shop, but they’re currently being directed to exit a different way. Disney hasn’t announced yet when this shop could reopen.
Enchanted Tales with Belle
A few character meet-and-greets are closed in Magic Kingdom, including the Enchanted Tales with Belle attraction. However, sometimes Belle can still be found greeting guests near the attraction! But the full experience hasn’t returned yet.
Disney hasn’t announced when Enchanted Tales with Belle could reopen.
Pete’s Silly Sideshow
If you wanted to meet Minnie, Daisy, Donald, and Goofy in their circus performer outfits, unfortunately you’ll have to wait a little longer. Pete’s Silly Sideshow is still not open in Storybook Circus.
Disney has said that this attraction will reopen sometime “in the coming months,” but they haven’t specified exactly when that might be.
Meet Ariel at Her Grotto
One more character meet-and-greet that’s still closed is Ariel’s Grotto. Although you can’t meet Ariel at this spot, you can still go on the Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid omnimover ride, located nearby!
Disney hasn’t announced when Ariel’s Grotto will reopen.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Over in Hollywood Studios, another Little Mermaid-themed attraction is closed as well. The Voyage of the Little Mermaid show has been closed in this park for a long time now.
Disney hasn’t announced when this show could reopen.
Fantasmic!
Fantasmic! is still closed for now…but it’ll reopen this week! Starting November 3rd, this popular show will be BACK in Hollywood Studios.
Fantasmic! dining packages won’t return until a little bit later, but you can reserve yours now if you want to have one when you visit next. When the show reopens, it’ll look a little bit different, with new characters and effects.
Learn how Fantasmic! will look DIFFERENT when it returns.
EPCOT
Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360
The Canada Far & Wide film is located in the Canada pavilion (of course), but it’s not playing right now. That’s because the theater is being used to house the Appleseed Orchard festival booth for the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival!
We’re expecting the film to resume playing after the festival ends on November 19th.
American Adventure Show
Over in the American Adventure pavilion, the stage show is currently closed as well. Disney hasn’t announced when this show could reopen.
According to a Cast Member in this pavilion, the closure is for some routine refurbishments on the animatronics.
Cool Wash
Cool Wash has gone through a few different transformations in the past, and it’s in the midst of another one right now. Although this kiosk is still blocked off by some shrubs, we recently saw a new name on the sign! It said “Refreshment Station.”
When we checked back later, the sign had been covered up by a tarp. We’ll have to wait and see when this spot opens because Disney hasn’t released any information about it.

Disney World Hotels
Kona Café — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Kona Café is temporarily closed — but not for much longer! This spot will reopen soon on November 1st, 2022.
You can make reservations now to visit this Kona Café! But if you’re visiting in the next few days while it’s still closed, you can still grab food from Kona Café by using the My Disney Experience app to Mobile Order breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Kona Café To-Go.
Narcoossee’s — Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, one high-end restaurant is currently unavailable. Narcoossee’s (the upscale seafood restaurant) has been closed for a few months now.
This spot will reopen in 2023, but Disney hasn’t announced a specific return date for it yet.

Disney World Water Parks
Blizzard Beach
One of Disney World’s water parks — Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park — is still closed right now. This park is scheduled to reopen on November 13th!
When Blizzard Beach reopens, Typhoon Lagoon (Disney World’s other water park) will close for its own round of refurbishments.
Check out the new Frozen area of Blizzard Beach here.

I have to ask myself, was it like this (all of the closures) back in the 1990’s when I grew up at WDW, or did I just not notice…? I don’t remember things being closed for months, years at a time. I was there a similar volume of closures back then…..

I’m hoping the WDW Railroad is open when I return on May 1, 2023!

Just visited NYC and learnt the Hudson Yard development over the train yard was done without stopping a single train from coming / going. Yet the Disney railroad been closed since forever for the creation of Tron. Hmmmm.

Any word if the Muppet Shop in Hollywood Studios will ever open again? I will be coming up in less than a month on what will likely be my third trip without being able to shop there.
