If you’ve ever experienced the anxiety-inducing process of trying to purchase a highly-anticipated Disney ticket, you know that the process is often, well, a hot mess. In the past, we’ve seen Disney’s website crash, experienced random pauses while waiting in the virtual queue, and watched tickets sell out in the blink of an eye. It’s a high-stress situation, people!

Mickey at Disney’s Oogie Boogie Bash
Most recently, tickets for Disneyland’s Oogie Boogie Bash went on sale, and we had a feeling that the process was going to be a little tricky, to say the least. Let’s talk about our experience on June 29th.
If you’re not familiar, Oogie Boogie Bash is a popular Halloween party filled with special treats, exclusive entertainment, Disney villain character meet-and-greets, and much more.

Oogie Boogie at the Oogie Boogie Bash!
Oogie Boogie Bash runs on select nights from September 5th through October 31st. The event is hosted by none other than Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and he’s previously been accompanied by other rare Disney villains.

The event has sold out QUICKLY in the past (within a few days), and we expected a similar experience this time around.

Ernesto de La Cruz at Oogie Boogie Bash 2022
General Admission Oogie Boogie Bash tickets went live on the Disneyland website at 9AM PT on June 29th, 2023. We hopped on the website bright and early and were fully prepared to wait in the virtual queue for a ticket.

This event is SO fun!
Just a few days earlier, Magic Key Holders were able to purchase tickets, but the pre-sale tickets quickly sold out.

Well, a few hours later, we were still waiting in the virtual queue when we were hit with an update. Our screen was updated with a message reading, “Ticket sales have temporarily paused and will resume soon.” Do you see that face Oogie Boogie is making? It’s like he’s taunting us!

Yep. Looks like we might be waiting for a while. As of now, the queue is still paused, so our spot in line is on hold for now. We’ll watch for more updates from Disney, so stay tuned for additional information.

UPDATE: Later in the day, the Disneyland website was updated once again with a message stating, “We are aware of a technical issue with Oogie Boogie Bash ticket sales, which have been temporarily paused. Teams are working to find a resolution as quickly as possible. We will update the website when we know more. Please be advised that call center wait times are heavily impacted currently.”

UPDATE: This evening, the page updated once again and informed us that the queue has CLOSED. The messages stated, “We apologize for the technical issues which have impacted general ticket sales for Oogie Boogie Bash. New sales are paused while we work to address this issue.”
The notification says that you should visit Disneyland’s website on Thursday, July 6th, at 9AM PT for an update, which may include the date and time when new sales resume.

Some people were able to buy tickets by opening a new browser window (most kept the paused one open to be safe) and yep even though it’s 1:28 Eastern it’s a good thing to try
I have been in the Que since 9:01 eastern time. It is so frustrating when a multi billion dollar company continuously has so many technology issues.
Thank you for the update. Been paused now for 2 hrs.
This has been the worst experience! First time trying to go to Ophir Boogie. Friends are pass holders and she spent 5.5 hours Tuesday trying to get a ticket second week of September and they were sold out. We are both on plus family members today. I received the update at 9:15 that my wait was 51 minutes. Within a couple of minutes we all received the tickets paused message and have been waiting since. It’s now 1:30. Who has days to devote to this? Not worth it and disney has had ongoing issues with it so they need to find a solution.
I have been in queen from the moment it opened and am still waiting almost 5 hours later. My fiancé jumped in 2 hours into the queue and within 30 mins was in! What?! However, we tried to use our gift card (that we specifically got for this event) and it gave us an “ERROR” message when we tried to submit. We tried again and now it says there’s no balance on the gift card! We’ve been on the phone with 4 different groups with customer service to try to sort it out and our money is “pending” but we got no tickets. They cannot refund the money back to the card until 24 hours. Which means our chance will be gone. We are heartbroken and SO FRUSTRATED. Disney DO BETTER.
The latest on this is that the queue has been closed and there will be further updates as of July 6.
