Are you planning to visit Disneyland in 2024? Then you’ll need to know about a few major CLOSURES happening in the parks!
From popular rides to fan-favorite shows, there are several closures happening at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Never fear — we’ve got a full list of everything that’ll be closed in the parks in 2024 so that you can find all the information you’ll need for your upcoming trip.
Disneyland Park
Fantasmic! Nighttime Spectacular — Currently Closed
During a spring performance of Fantasmic! in Disneyland, the Maleficent dragon (who is supposed to breathe fire during the show) caught on fire. After the incident, the show was suspended indefinitely and Disney released a statement that it would temporarily suspend fire effects at select shows GLOBALLY “out of an abundance of caution.”
The nighttime spectacular will return on May 24th, 2024. When the show returns, it will not include the Maleficent dragon figure but will “feature new special effects and a thrilling new battle scene between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficent.”
Haunted Mansion — Current Closure
As of January 22nd, the Haunted Mansion is closed to make way for a new, expanded queue!
So what changes will take place? Well, for one, there will be an expanded outdoor queue “to immerse guests in enhanced theming.” Disney shares, “Local legend suggests the manor known today as the Haunted Mansion was first built by a prosperous sea captain. To this day, the mansion’s staff faithfully maintains the happy haunting grounds. The expanded queue will tie into these stories and more, including new gardens inspired by Master Gracey, Madame Leota and the one-eyed cat.” You can find out more expansion details HERE.

Matterhorn Bobsleds — Upcoming Closure

Critter Country — Upcoming Closure
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open later this year in Disneyland and the park has been busy making changes to accommodate the new ride. (It’s replacing Splash Mountain, which permanently closed in May 2023.)
In fact, Disneyland has already made adjustments to one land to better fit The Princess and the Frog theming and now it will be closing an entire land to add NEW The Princess and the Frog shops! Disney just announced that beginning May 1st, 2024, Critter Country WILL BE CLOSED temporarily to make way for two new shops in addition to the new attraction — Ray’s Berets and Louis’ Critter Club!
Hungry Bear Restaurant will remain open while the land is refurbished but The Many Adventures of Winnie will be closed. Currently, no changes are planned for the attraction and it is expected to reopen with the land.

Rogers: The Musical — Current Closure
Rogers: The Musical, the fictional Broadway musical that first appeared in the Disney+ Hawkeye series, ran from June 30th to August 31st. The musical focused on the story of the first Captain America, Steve Rogers. The show was an instant hit when audiences first saw it on Disney+, so naturally, many people were excited to learn that it was coming to life at California Adventure.
There have been rumors that it could be coming back in early 2024, but until we hear the official word, we don’t know 100%Disneyland will ever bring the show back.
Beast’s Library — Permanent Closure
Beast’s Library in the Sorcerer’s Workshop closed permanently on December 11th, 2023.
According to KTLA5 News, the space will be used for Disney’s Imagination Campus, which is a program that allows students a unique learning experience that focuses on creativity and problem-solving.
We’re glad that the space will be used for something special since a beloved experience must go.
