I’ve got a dream…
Yep, excuse us while we bust out with some lyrics from Tangled. But that’s what this post is all about. Okay, so here’s the deal. We’re thinking we need to see a LOT more of Rapunzel in the theme parks and not just merchandise. We’re still disappointed that all we got in Disney World Tangled-themed are some cool bathrooms — PUNZIE DESERVES BETTER. Well, there are some indications that we may actually get a Rapunzel-themed restaurant in Disneyland, and if that happens, we’re booking a flight to Anaheim ASAP.
We’ve been getting more and more details about a new expansion over at Tokyo DisneySea at Tokyo Disneyland Resort called Fantasy Springs. That new port at Tokyo DisneySea will include Rapunzel’s Forest, complete with Rapunzel’s Tower. There will also be a Tangled attraction called Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival.
Even more importantly, though, is that Rapunzel’s Forest will also have a new restaurant, and YES, it’s the Snuggly Duckling, which we’ve been asking for FOREVER. The restaurant, which will take inspiration from Tangled, will offer dining rooms with different atmospheres, but it will also offer a counter-service option, too.
So what does this have to do with Disneyland? Well, there’s a new initiative, Disneyland Forward called between Disneyland and the City of Anaheim to expand Disneyland to add new lands, attractions, restaurants, and more. As Disneyland only has finite space, though, it basically means re-zoning certain areas of Disneyland property to allow for these new additions, so the company has to work with the City to make that happen.
Disneyland has been talking about it A LOT, though, and has often pointed out what it’s doing in its international theme parks as examples of what it could do at Disneyland with Tangled mentioned often. It’s even mentioned on the DisneylandForward website under “Possibilities.”
That means that the Tangled area in Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs could end up making its way to Disneyland, including the Snuggly Duckling. You can bet if that happens, we’ll be among the first to book reservations to try it out! So yes, there is a possibility that a new Tangled area could come to Disneyland, along with a Rapunzel-themed restaurant.
However, Disneyland still has more meetings planned before a vote is held in spring 2024, which could change the resort’s proposals for the parks. We’ll be keeping an eye out to see how it goes!
Stay tuned to DFB for more.
