Disney often works with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes for seriously ill children.
Disney has released special Make-A-Wish merchandise in the past, often hosts children and their families in its parks, and often brings awareness to the organization. Over the years, the foundation has helped grant the wishes of over 300,000 children, with many of those wishes involving the Walt Disney Company in some way. Over the past weeks, Disneyland has hosted 19 children and their families for its first multi-day Make-A-Wish event “Blaze Your Path: A Star Wars Adventure.” Last night, on September 11th, Disney hosted a special finale for that event.
According to Disney, the event allowed the participating children and their families to experience their own Star Wars adventures, which makes it sound a lot like the experience on board the now-closed Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Last night, Disneyland put on a NEW show in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as a finale to its Make-A-Wish event.
So how big of a deal was this event? Let’s just say, we looked over and saw Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences, enjoying the show, too. D’Amaro is a member of the Make-A-Wish board.
The show itself was an entire story and adventure showing the Resistance battling the First Order. It featured a lot of familiar characters from the Star Wars universe, like Rey, Vi Moradi, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, and more.
It sort of reminded us of the big finale show on the now-closed Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, which is what it seems like Disney was going for during its multi-day Make-A-Wish event. There was an epic battle with stylized combat, lightsabers, and pyrotechnics.
Overall, it was pretty cool and was a great send-off to the Make-A-Wish event in Disneyland.
