As the situation with COVID-19 develops, we’ve seen quite a few updates released about cruising.
Will Disney Set Sail Again This Year?
So far, Disney Cruise Line has canceled all U.S. departures through June 2021, and sailings on the Disney Magic in Europe have been canceled through September 18th, 2021. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also shared its next phase of requirements for cruise lines. But, there are still many questions surrounding WHEN cruises will be able to depart from the U.S. again, and recently the CDC gave an update on just that.
Some of us are REALLY looking forward to the return of cruising when it’s safe — especially Disney cruising!
Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line has been periodically canceling sailings due to the global health crisis and might resume limited operations this fall. Disney Cruises might be limited this year, but you COULD put a 2022 cruise in the books!
The global health pandemic has created a lot of challenges for the travel industry over the past year, particularly for the cruise industry.

Take Disney Cruise Line — it’s been OVER a year since its last sailing. The CDC continues to extend no-sail regulations, and Disney has previously said that it believes cruises will be the last arm of its business to return.

Disney Cruise Line has not set sail since the beginning of March in 2020, prior to the shutdowns from the global pandemic.

Disney cruises were cancelled in mid-March last year and have continued to be cancelled. Now, some passengers who sailed on a Disney Cruise before the closures are suing Disney for allegedly contracting COVID-19 while on board.
Things are constantly changing with Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and other aspects of The Walt Disney Company.

From time to time, we get some updates about how some of these changes have impacted the Company financially and what potential new changes might be on the horizon. We’re about to get more of those updates soon with Disney’s upcoming quarterly earnings call. And two days ahead of the call, things are changing with Disney’s stock.
A number of months ago, Disney shared that its cruising industry would be the last of its businesses to resume.
The Disney Wonder
So far, we have seen Disney cruises canceled through April, with select cruises canceled through May, and select cruises over 7 nights canceled as well. But, now a major restriction has been announced that could impact a lot of cruises, beyond just Disney Cruise Line.
