Yes, we’ve listened to a ton of Disney history podcasts, and we’ve OBVIOUSLY watched Behind The Attraction on Disney+… MULTIPLE times. We made sure we enjoyed the special Christmas with Walt Disney film, too. Disney transportation has a rich history that we’re fascinated with, and now we can see Disney transportation history IN ACTION on New Year’s Day.
So where are our DFB readers who are obsessed with Disney World’s Haunted Mansion?
Haunted Mansion
We get it — we’ve been on Haunted Mansion NUMEROUS times, and each time, we notice something different about the ride. We’re also really excited — and curious — about the addition of Hatbox Ghost to the attraction, which should be coming soon. However, there’s already something NEW in the ride — and it is SUPER CREEPY but also really special.
We often talk these days of the unprecedented times that Disney is operating in. The company seems to be at the forefront of the culture wars — with accusations flying that Disney is no longer the “family-friendly” corporation it was designed to be.
Hey, Walt! Hey, Mickey!
In the past few months, Disney has become entangled in lawsuits with the governor of Florida, faced accusations from investors that its political involvement puts the company at risk, and faced criticism for adding R-rated content to Disney+.
Walt Disney World veterans might be wondering — what happened to FastPass? And was it really as wonderful as we all remember it? Now that we’ve been using Disney Genie+, let’s look back at some FastPass history.
The FastPass lines are now called Lightning Lanes
Certainly, your park morning might look different now. Once upon a time, many of us would get up early in order to be at our first park of the day before rope drop. Then, the fastest family member was tasked with walking very quickly (and yes, there might have been some running!) to pick up FastPasses for the attraction that typically boasted the largest wait times throughout the day.

And you never know when something is about to become Disney history either. Splash Mountain is now considered Disney history, as are some of our favorite snacks, and many of us will never be able to relive the moment we saw our first Disney movie, saw Cinderella Castle for the first time, or just fell in love with Disney magic. It is with sadness that we report the Disney Legend, who holds the title of longest-serving Cast Member in Walt Disney Company History, has passed away at the age of 87.
Disney is going above and beyond with celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2023.
