Red alert! A new Lightning Lane just dropped at Disney World.
We’re pretty obsessed with bringing you all the details you need to know for Lightning Lanes for your upcoming Disney World trip, and now Disney is throwing another one onto the list.
Lightning Lane is Disney World’s skip-the-line system available for a fee to all guests visiting the resort.
The Lightning Lane system can be confusing for everyone, but especially for anyone new to the parks. I’ve been going to Disney World for many years and am very familiar with the system, and I STILL make mistakes now and then. The system has changed several times in the past few years, so it’s totally reasonable that mistakes happen. Here’s what happened to me and how I solved it (and how you can solve any mistakes you make, too).
The highest tier of Disneyland’s Lightning Lane, the Premier Pass, is intended to guarantee one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane attraction in both parks. When it comes to the Disneyland Resort, the mega-expensive offering is best for guests visiting the “Happiest Place on Earth” for the first — and possibly only — time, as it essentially guarantees (operation permitting) rides on the most in-demand attractions at both Disneyland and California Adventure. It’s likely not nearly as necessary for Southern California locals, or others who have visited the resort multiple times in the past and plan to continue doing so in the future.
Back to the “one-time entry” part of Premier Pass, though, while that holds mostly true across the board, there’s a hack that allows TWO rides: Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. However, there is a seasonal catch!
Lightning Lanes are one of the best ways to save time by skipping the lines at your favorite rides at Disney World. While you have to pay for the passes, time is money in Disney World, and you can get even more bang for your buck on your vacation.
We love using Lightning Lanes, but there’s one park we’ve always struggled to see the need for the extra upcharge. While we love visiting Animal Kingdom, there aren’t very many attractions with Lightning Lane options. If you’ve been debating whether you should get Lightning Lanes on your Animal Kingdom day, this might persuade you to save some money.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World is a Star Wars fan’s dream vacation. You get to dive into the galaxy and become immersed in the stories through shopping, dining, and rides.
One of the rides in this land is Rise of the Resistance. It’s quite possibly the BEST ride in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s a trackless ride, which keeps you guessing on where you’re going next, and it’s jam-packed with action from beginning to end, including your time in the queue. But if you want to make it even BETTER, we recommend doing this one thing!
Alright, I’m gonna level with ya…some Lightning Lanes are better than others.
Magic Kingdom is the most visited theme park in the world — and for good reason! Home to several top-notch rides and excellent vibes, this park is always in demand and can garner some pretty long wait times. That’s where Lightning Lanes — Disney’s paid skip-the-line service — helps! Using Lightning Lanes can require special tactics and some extra cash. If you’re looking to utilize Lightning Lanes to their max potential (which everyone should be doing), we’ve got a few tips to help ya make the most out of your experience at Magic Kingdom.
Lightning Lane prices at Disney World are going up, up, UP!

Lightning Lane
Disney World has been going through a ton of change this year, and it’s not slowing down! As we enter the busiest season at the parks, it looks like Disney is spiking up the prices for the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, depending on the park and day. We know when that’s happening, and how much it’s jumping, so let’s take a look!
Disney’s Lightning Lane system is constantly evolving to fit the needs of the resort, and 2025 has been no exception, as new rides have been added, tiers have changed, and one type of experience has been removed!
I’ve been going to Disney World for over 30 years, and over that time, I’ve watched the “skip-the-line” system evolve from FastPass through FastPass+, Genie+, and Lightning Lane. Beyond that, within each of these systems, the company has continuously tweaked rules and shuffled offerings. These are some of the most notable changes made this past year.
Do you remember the 21st night of September?
This might not be an official holiday, but to Disney, September 21st is a huge celebration all across EPCOT. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind plays “September” by Earth, Wind, & Fire, all day long in honor of the iconic lyrics, and typically, it brings the crowds. Let’s take a look at the crowds for September 21st, 2025, in EPCOT.
You can beg, you can plead, but no matter how many times you ask, Disney still won’t let you move into the Haunted Mansion.
But there is one rule Disney enforces every single day that could truly derail your trip if you don’t know about it. We’re talking about Lightning Lanes. This system has replaced FastPass and Genie+, and if you don’t know exactly how it works, you could be stuck in long lines, wasting valuable park time, and watching your dream rides disappear from availability before you even finish your morning coffee. Today we’re breaking it down: the one Disney World rule that can ruin your day if you aren’t prepared, and exactly how to use it to your full advantage.
