We found some key chains in Hollywood Studios that made us reach for our wallets immediately.
Yep! That’s a Mickey Ice Cream Bar!! Now we can carry memories of one of our favorite Disney snacks with us everyday — even when we are home!

If you’re of the opinion that dunking something in chocolate makes everything better, I’ve got a few snacks that you really need to sample!
Here are my top five chocolate-covered snacks in Disney World and Disneyland (not necessarily in order of beloved-ness ;-)). And I can’t wait to hear yours (mostly because then I get to go find them and chomp them)!
I found this treat on one of my many Karamell-Küche visits in Epcot’s Germany! One of several chocolate-y and caramel-y treats, it’s got the benefit of three distinct tastes and textures.
The chewy, super-sweet caramel is the central feature and taste, and it’s complemented by that creamy milk or dark chocolate (the dark chocolate will give a slight bitterness to the taste, which gives even more depth to the flavor!). The sea salt on the top gives a slight crunch and a solid kapow to your taste buds, making the sweet even sweeter! If you’ve been avoiding the salty-sweet trend that’s become so popular, this might be the best way to take your first step into that taste juxtaposition! You can always brush some of the salt off if you don’t like it. 🙂
This gorgeous confection, which I simply refer to as the peanut butter sandwich, used to be sold at Disney Parks on both coasts, but lately we’ve only found it in Disneyland. (It IS in Disneyland, though…I promise!)
With peanut butter piled high on a graham cracker then enrobed in [Read more…]
More and more, we’re seeing iconic Disney food depicted as graphics, shapes, and patterns in Disney merchandise. You’ll remember the Mickey Bar-shaped antenna topper and the Mickey breakfast pajama pants, of course. And who can forget the Disney food playset and the Disney food magnets!
But walking through the lobby of the Grand Californian Friday night, I spotted what I think is quite possibly the coolest “food” merchandise I’ve ever come across. So cool that I have a strong feeling I will be back to buy it.
I love Disney Food. I love Disney travel. SO, why not combine the two for a super awesome, totally radical new Disney food suitcase? This beauty was calling my name from its pedestal in the lobby gift shop.

The fun snack food designs are what caught my eye first. I noticed the Mickey Bars, popcorn, lollipops, and cotton candy. Already I’m sold. THEN I saw that it was specific to Disneyland Resort and noticed the text that read Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. So fun.
But wait! There’s still more to notice. It took me a minute until I realized that the orange “shape” was actually the silhouette of Grizzly Peak over at DCA, and of course you can’t forget the purple Sleeping Beauty Castle. Another fun detail? The [Read more…]

Recently we polled our Disney Food Blog Facebook Page for their answer to this question: “What are your favorite icy cold snacks and treats in Disney parks?”
Among the many awesome answers, the three chilling treats mentioned the most by our Facebook Friends were Dole Whips, Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars, and Kaki Gori shaved ice!
UPDATE: Dole Whip is no longer being served at Captain Cook’s, is no longer self-serve, and is no longer available 24 hours a day. You’ll now find Dole Whip at the Pineapple Lanai in Disney’s Polynesian Village in addition to Aloha Isle at the Magic Kingdom. You can also find Dole Whip available intermittently at Animal Kingdom’s Tamu Tamu Refreshments, and at Epcot during some special events. On the upside, you can also get a Dole Whip Float at Pineapple Lanai!
We heard your your 34 shout-outs (!!!) to the Dole Whip. Not surprisingly, this palate-pleasing treat was the clear winner!
The Dole Whip’s popularity may be partly due to the many versions offered. First, there’s Dole Whip soft-serve in vanilla, pineapple and orange. Guests can further customize their dish by ordering a swirl. Or opt for the [Read more…]

Can you believe it? I’ve written over 1,000 pages for this site and I’ve never given the Mickey Premium Bar its very own dedication. Let’s change that right now, shall we?
For those who haven’t tried one, a Nestle Mickey Premium Bar is basically vanilla ice cream on a stick dipped in chocolate. Think Dove bar or Klondike bar, but Mickey shaped. Plain, simple, delicious.
What makes it so good? I have no idea. Maybe it’s just better than a [Read more…]

We’ve recently started a fun new series based on the Food Network’s (very cool) show, The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Due to some keen suggestions from readers, we’re splitting our series up into different sections: breakfast, appetizers & side dishes, snacks & drinks, entrees (lunch & dinner), and desserts.
Today, we’re taking a look at Snacks & Drinks! I’ve done my favorite brand of informal polling (i.e. posted questions on twitter and facebook 😉 ) to find out others’ experiences of the “Best Thing They Ever Ate” — snacks and drinks style — in Disney parks and resorts. To be sure, the answers sounded veeeery similar to our recent post about the Best Value for your Snack Credits, but we had a few different ideas as well!

Nobody knows branding quite like the Disney Company. When you visit a Disney establishment, not only do you see your favorite mouse in animated character form, you also see him in every other form imaginable…including those that are edible!
While you can consume Mr. Mouse as a pasta, a vegetable, an ice cream sundae, and even as a pancake, my favorite Mickey Mouse-shaped foods are those that follow:
1. Mickey Waffles: These seem to keep popping up in my blog, but they’re pretty quintessential Disney food, no? The Mickey Waffle can be found on just about every buffet breakfast and room service menu on property; it’s a staple Disney parks and resorts food, and with all the folks trying to duplicate it at home, why shouldn’t it be?
2. The Mickey Bar: This has been an icon of Disney theme park food since…the beginning of Disney theme park food? (Seriously, if anyone has a good “history of the Mickey Bar” they can share, I’d be most obliged.) It’s simple and ubiquitous and can be enjoyed by adults and kids both.
3. Mickey Rice Krispies Treat (on or off a stick): Who knew such a simple recipe, first printed on the Rice Krispies box in 1941, would, with just a little re-shaping, become such a huge mega-seller in Disney theme parks? Sometimes dipped in chocolate, sometimes straight-up, Mickey Rice Krispies Treats are a great between-meal snack. And low-fat, right? (By they way, every once in a while you can find GIANT Mickey Rice Krispies treats — bigger than your head.)
4. Chocolate-covered Mickey Pretzels: Again, simple, yet delicious. Grab a pretzel, dip it in chocolate, add some decoration, and sell it for an enormous profit. We’re happy, you’re happy.
Now, my fifth favorite Mickey-shaped nom was not mentioned here, because I don’t believe it exists any longer (but I can hope!). If anyone out there has a photograph (or knowledge of its presence on Disney property) of the old sculpted Mickey butter that used to be served at the restaurants, I’d love to see it. A 3-dimensional sculpture of Mickey made out of butter. It doesn’t get any better than that.
Also, let me know YOUR favorite Mickey-shaped foods…there are many not mentioned here…
