This might come as a shock, but it rains in Disney World (pause for audible gasps)!
Like, it rains a LOT. Even when it’s not hurricane season, it’s always a good idea to come prepared to get wet in Disney World…and not just on Splash Mountain!

Severe weather can impact your Disney World trip, potentially shutting down attractions or forms of transportation like the Disney Skyliner.
Recently, we shared that severe weather could impact Disney World this week (particularly today, October 28th). Earlier today we also gave an update as to potential flight delays that could result from weather concerns. Now, we’ve got another update on what you should be prepared for in terms of weather if you’re in Disney World today.
If you’re planning to visit Disney World you’ve likely taken a number of steps to prepare — packed your bags, booked your hotel, made your Park Pass reservations, etc.
But there’s one big thing you definitely want to make sure you prepare for…the weather! The weather in Orlando can be hot and sunny, wet and rainy, and even surprisingly cold at times (and sometimes all 3 hit within a short period of time). If you’re planning to visit Disney World this week, we’ve got an important weather update for you.
Sometimes things can go wrong in Disney World that are completely out of your control.
Rides can break down, the weather can complicate your day, you can miss your transportation, or find that your favorite snack has gotten more expensive. So, we’re here to talk about the big issues you can encounter in Disney World, and what to do if they happen.
UPDATE: All rides have returned to their normal operations.
Heads up if you’re in Disney World right now!
We’ve seen severe weather before in the parks, and it looks like we’ve got some more rolling in now. When storms arrive, particularly with heavy lightning, we can see rides or forms of transportation in Disney World go down temporarily. And that’s exactly what we’re seeing right now for ALL 4 Disney World theme parks. Let’s take a look!
Have you ever had a “nope, not today” moment in Walt Disney World?
Maybe you had plans go awry or you experienced something that wasn’t nearly as “magical” as you hoped it would be. Or maybe it felt like the park was quitting on YOU (like when a favorite ride has a weird malfunction!). Today, we’re sharing the times that we had experiences like that in the parks because we’ve seen some pretty bonkers things!
Considering Florida’s nickname is the “Sunshine State,” you might assume that the weather at Disney World is constantly sunny, perfect, and warm…but you’d be mistaken!
Even outside of hurricane season, the weather at Disney World is notoriously unpredictable, and at times SEVERE. We have the videos and photos from Magic Kingdom when an actual “Severe Weather Warning” was issued for the area.
