Guest Review: Brunch at the Top at California Grill in Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Guest Author AM Appleby returns to share her California Grill Brunch at the Top experience at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Brunch is offered every Sunday from 10AM – 1PM. Cost is $80 for adults and $48 for kids ages 3-11.
California Grill, located atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort, is well known for fine dining and spectacular views. A divine spot for sushi, steak, and fabulous cocktails, the restaurant began serving brunch in February for the first time in its 20-year history.
Considering the reputation of California Grill, I didn’t even glance at the menu before booking an Advance Dining Reservation. I thought brunch would be top notch, and had high hopes that I wouldn’t be disappointed.
Atmosphere
Upon arriving at the Contemporary Resort, we were directed to Valet Parking where a Cast Member was waiting to greet us. After a quick trip to the second floor check-in desk we were whisked away in a private elevator to the 15th floor. We walked towards the abundant light streaming in through the enormous windows, admiring the view beyond, and were given complimentary mimosas (and a children’s mimosa — or “faux-mosa” for my seven-year-old daughter) at the bar.
The spacious room was fairly quiet, with charming music being played on piano and double bass. [Read more…]
First Look and Review: Morimoto Asia Street Food at Disney Springs
We have more exciting news for you today — Live from Disney Springs! …AGAIN!!!!
While Morimoto Asia has been open for a few months now, the restaurant has just debuted another facet of their service — Morimoto Asia Street Food.
This patio dining spot is located in the same building where you’ll find Mormoto Asia. In fact, they’re pretty much one and the same, with patio seating for Street Food customers. Basically, Street Food is the counter-service part of Morimoto Asia.
Let’s take a look around before we dig into what this new counter service spot has to offer.
Atmosphere
Previously, we enjoyed dining inside Morimoto’s dining room. If you haven’t had the chance yet, make sure you visit this gem. It’s one of the most beautiful restaurants in all of Disney. But there’s plenty of functional beauty at Street Food as well.
The action for Morimoto Asia Street Food all takes place outside on the patio. It may not sound terribly special, but with the recent removal of construction walls, you can now enjoy lovely views of Disney Springs from the area. [Read more…]
News: Disney World’s California Grill to Offer “Brunch at the Top” Starting February 2016
Great news if you’re a fan of California Grill, Sunday Brunch — or both!
Coming on the heels of the announcement that Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian would begin offering a Sunday brunch, now we are hearing that California Grill will do the same.
The popular signature restaurant, which sits atop Disney’s Contemporary Resort, has been a dinner-only spot since opening in the 1990s. But as Disney World continues to expand hours in table service restaurants across property, it looks like California Grill will soon join the trend.
The experience promises to be a hybrid of sorts. If you’d like, you can choose to begin your meal with something to drink. Options include both mocktails and cocktails, or indulge in a trip to the Bloody Mary Bar.
Guests begin their meal with house made Breakfast Pastries and Breads. Assortments will include Caramel Apple Monkey Bread, Cranberry Pecan Scones, and Tillamook Cheddar Biscuits, accompanied by Jam made from scratch and Orange Blossom Honey Butter. [Read more…]
First Look! Morimoto Asia in Disney World’s Disney Springs
Welcome to the brand new Morimoto Asia Restaurant in The Landing of what is at long last OFFICIALLY Disney Springs!
We’ll be back with a full review on Monday, but today we’re here for a First Look. In some respects, our meal at Morimoto Asia itself was a bit of a First Look, because while dinner seatings are up and running each night beginning at 5:00PM, the restaurant will not be serving lunch or its planned weekend brunch for a few weeks yet (the starting date for these dining opportunities is yet to be announced).
Once it is fully open, operating hours will be 11:00 am to 2:00 am, bringing extended hours — custom-made for a more vibrant nightlife — to Disney World’s ever-transforming and newly renamed dining and entertainment district.
But that’s all logistics… we know you’re itching to take a peek inside Iron Chef Morimoto’s first Pan-Asian restaurant, just like we were!
So let’s do exactly that… [Read more…]
