While it might not be as complicated as Disney’s web of acquisitions, Universal Orlando has gone through some ownership shifts since it first opened in 1990. It started as a joint venture, but today, there’s only one company in charge. Let’s break down the history of ownership and who’s calling the shots now!
We have finally had a chance to see Universal Orlando’s new theme park, Epic Universe, for ourselves.

Although we couldn’t take any photos of everything we got to see and do, we still got to experience it, and let’s just say SO much of the new park really surprised us. However, one of our favorite lands could be How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk. Now, we got to ride the rides and see the sights (the dragons!) and we’re ranking those experiences.
We finally got a first look at Universal Orlando’s new theme park, Epic Universe, and let’s just say our mind is STILL reeling from everything we saw.

Now, we weren’t allowed to take photos to share with you, but we’ve done our best to describe what we saw in the park’s five lands. However, mere words cannot truly capture how EPIC this new land really is, and we’ll be back eventually for more in-depth coverage of the park. For now, though, we’ve got some hot takes about the things that REALLY surprised us about Epic Universe — so let’s get into it.

While the park does not officially open until May 22nd, 2025, park previews are currently underway for Team Members and their guests, and we were able to get a sneak peek! Before actually getting to experience the park for ourselves, we speculated that certain attractions would require a locker system to keep your belongings in while you ride. Well, we finally know how this system will work, and spoiler alert: it is different than the lockers we are normally used to at the other two Universal parks.

While the park does not officially open until May 22nd, 2025, park previews have been taking place, and we were finally able to check out the park for ourselves! Universal describes Epic Universe as their “most ambitious theme park yet” with 50 new attractions, new gift shops, new shows, and, of course, new restaurants! We happen to know a thing or two about food (it’s literally in our name!), and we were blown away by one of the snacks we got to try. Of course, we are going to tell you all about it!
We can’t breathe while thinking about this new Epic Universe ride and we technically haven’t even been on it yet.

Alright. Here’s the lowdown. Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe officially opens on May 22nd, 2025. This park has been heralded as Universal’s “most ambitious theme park yet,” with theme park immersion and innovation we’ve never seen. There are over 50 new attractions. There are new restaurants. New gift shops. New shows. New stories! There’s a lot (like, a lot) to see and do, but we’re taking you along for the ride.
We are getting closer and closer to the opening of Epic Universe! Universal’s brand-new theme park opens in just 67 days — not that we are counting or anything. Who are we kidding? We are definitely counting down the days.
Epic Universe Model
Along with the brand-new theme park, there are also three brand-new hotels to support Epic Universe. Universal Terra Luna Resort opens on March 25th, and Universal Helios Grand Hotel opens on May 22nd. The first hotel, Universal Stella Nova Resort, opened on January 21st, and we are sharing some of our takeaways from our stay!
